Do not use this company. On March 24 2021 John Genova gave us a quote to repave my two driveways. He said they will start work in the first week of May 2021. We gave him a cash deposit of $ 600 for the work. I made a few phone calls to him in May and early June to get a update. He NEVER answered the phone or called me back. Finally got him on the phone on June 17 and he said they would start the work on June 22. He NEVER arrived to start the work. I phoned him eleven times over the next five days. He never called back. We sent him a message and email to refund us are $ 600 deposit in 15 days. He replied that he would refund us the money as soon as possible. It is now September 10 2021 and no money as been returned and he as not responded to any phone calls. He talks a good game plan but does not follow thru or return phone calls. Very unprofessional so beware if you want this company to do work for you.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY We hired John to pave our driveway last year.. He took up our old driveway and eventually he got around to paving our new driveway (sort of) after a lengthy delay. The quality of the asphalt was terrible. He sub contracted the work to some very sketchy people without telling us. Two weeks later two men showed up at my house demanding money from my Wife stating that John did not pay him. They threatened my Wife and said they would remove the driveway if we didn't pay them. We had to involve the police. Months later, we noticed the asphalt was starting to crumble in certain areas. I can run my shoe over the asphalt and it comes up. The bottom section if not level at all. Looks TERRIBLE. After multiple attempts contacting him, he finally showed up and informed us that the driveway is under 'warranty' and that he will re pave it. That was clearly a lie, as he has been ducking us for over a month and I don't even trust him to re pave it after its excavated. Just save yourself the headache and use literally any other company. Thanks John for the quality work! I will be spreading the word about our experience!

Do not use this company! Was referred to John from friends back in May. He had all the excuses for his bad reviews well rehearsed. Unfortunately we decided to go with him. He did not start on time and also wanted me to purchase $2200 worth of armor stone. I told him I was concerned about this as he was already 3 weeks past when he was supposed to start and didn't want to end up with a pile of stone left in my driveway if he never shows. He assured me he would be there Friday as he has the equipment. Sounded like he rents his equipment. What kind of paving company doesn't own their own skidsteer? Friday rolls around and you guessed it..no John. I specifically left my family at the cottage to come home for him to start. Wouldn't answer his phone or texts. 4 days later I heard from him after I told him we were done and he again told me he has the equipment and can still do it. I told him no thanks! The friends that referred him to us have had their driveways torn up for 3 months now. He is threatening to put a lein on their house as they want to use a different company. STAY AWAY... THIS GUY IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE! I ended up using PRIME PAVING in cookstown and my driveway is perfect. 5" compressed minimum. These guys were amazing!

RECOMMENDATION - DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. We signed a contract Nov 29 2020 for the removal of the existing pavement as well as excavation and extending the current driveway, the work was to be started Spring 2021. On May 7, 2021 John and his employee Walter attended our home and completed the pavement removal and excavation work. At the end of the day he told us he would be returning to pave the week of June 7th, to date he has not returned (August 11, 2021). From June 7th to August 11 2021 we sent multiple texts, left multiple phone messages and sent multiple emails - he provided us with excuse after excuse as to why he hasn't returned, from weather, to equipment malfunctions, to family health, etc. In the meantime, if you review his Facebook page it shows him completing job after job after job, which included concrete work and paving. We provided John many dates and reasons as to why the work needed to be completed to which he basically told us he doesn't pave just because we are having a birthday celebration or a house to sell - he even suggested we list the house for sale with the condition the paving would be completed before the closing date....how could we depend on that, seeing as he has left us hanging for 3 months, with the impression he was coming soon. Effective July 29th John stopped answering any of our communications, prior to this he only responded when I left a poor review on the Tottenham Paving Facebook page. He has removed all negative comments, has blocked us from his Facebook page and removed the picture of our house that he took May 7th, showing his completed excavation work. The driveway has now grown in with weeds, all the edges need to be trimmed back in order to pave and there are ruts in the driveway from using it for 3 months. This man if definitely not a man of his word, today we had to fire him because of his lack of committing to a date and his poor customer service. John talks a good talk but doesn't fall through with his promises, he is definitely not a man of his word. I feel that John took advantage of us as we are seniors and his actions or lack of, border on senior abuse, ignore them, they will go away, they're old. We are so stressed and tired from all he has put us through. I have requested a partial refund, as we paid John more than 50 percent of the total invoice, on May 6th, in cash, at his request. We'll have to wait and see if he responds or returns any of our money. In response John. Again no response from you until you receive a negative posting which we told you would be a consequence to your poor customer service. It will be 10 weeks tomorrow that our driveway was excavated, you told us you would be back the week of June 7th. Printed on your contract it says “for proper drying/compaction purposes (allow 6-8 weeks of setting). All we have been asking for was a simple answer to a simple question, when are you coming to pave? We fully expected our driveway to be paved the week of June 7th, when it wasn’t done by early July you were asked if it was possible to pave by the time of my birthday, to which you responded “you need to notify me of these things earlier I don’t know when birthdays are”. YOU ARE NOT A MAN OF YOUR WORD as you kept telling us you would be coming and you didn’t! The reason we feel you have taken advantage of us a seniors is you wouldn’t respond to our communications but you were responding to our younger neighbour. Also, you did drop some gravel off when you excavated the neighbours but you did not spread it, in fact we had to spread it ourselves as you left a very low spot by the gate so water was pooling there.

We hired Tottenham Paving on Feb 26 2021 to redo our concrete garage floor, install a new concrete walkway and new asphalt driveway. All excavation occurred on Thurs April 29, 2021. (3 other neighbours were excavated for driveways only) Our garage floor was poured on Sat, May 1st. The walkway was formed 30 days later (due to some weather delays and lack of communication) and concrete was poured on Tues June 1st. That lack of communication should have been a sign - This is where our experience went downhill. Numerous follow-ups occurred over the 2nd half of June and all of July to get an idea when we would be paved. We were well past our minimum ‘curing time’ to get paved. Our phone calls would not be answered unless we used a different phone number. Text messages were not always replied to, and when they were, our question was never directly answered on when we may get paved. In mid-July, we were also texted that Tottenham Paving has 100 Business days plus 3 weather delays to complete the job – this did not appear in any of the fine print on our agreements. Our 3 neighbours would routinely reach out to us for updates, as they were not contacted directly by Tottenham paving since April 29th The one time we were given a paving date of Jul 24th, Tottenham Paving did not show up, nor did we get a call/text advising us that we were not getting paved. After some back and forth texts at the end of July to get an estimated paving date, we were only given excuses, or our scheduling questions were avoided all together. Aug 2nd, 62 days since our concrete cured, (95 days since excavation) poor and lack of communication, avoiding our questions and no-shows, we had to hire another company to complete the paving job, (which was done within 2 weeks). We advised Tottenham Paving that we would be moving on with another company due to our lack of confidence in their business as a result of poor /no communication and lack of commitment to complete the driveway. We were subsequently blocked that day from sending any further texts. As of Aug 2nd our 3 neighbours were still not paved nor were they contacted. All 4 driveways that were excavated by Tottenham Paving eventually had to be paved by different companies due to the same experience we had – poor/no communication, variety of excuses and no-shows. All positive 2021 reviews seem to only be concrete related – not paving related. As a customer, our experience was quite negative when we tried to get our driveway paved by Tottenham Paving.

We hired John Genova to do a stone patio and steps in our backyard. We explained that we were hiring him despite the many negative reviews and posts we had seen and against friends warning us about him. We actually considered him a friend and wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, and we let him know that and he acknowledged it. He actually said that he wouldn’t let us down because we were “family”. I have messages stating this. He first entered into our backyard in late April 2020. Made several more visits before we signed the contract on the 6th of August, with work to be completed by September long weekend. We were not dug out until the 8th of September and work began after that. Work order was completed on the 4th of November. We had to go and purchase our stones and steps ourselves. Many problems were encountered which included but were not limited to, equipment failure/lack of equipment, rain/wet ground, lack of communication, miscommunication, lies, excuses, and us needing to remove a portion of our fence for him to get the steps into our backyard, the same backyard he entered into many times prior to starting work and signing a contract accepting the work required. After many “delays” and some angry discussions, the work was finally completed- to the best of his ability or inability, if you will. He had a very nice gentleman named Walter that was helping him - that was it - just John and Walter. I have to say, if it wasn’t for Walter, who knows what more of a mess we would have ended up with then we did. A portion of our front lawn was destroyed during the installation of our patio. It had to be repaired at John’s expense. My husband made it very clear many times that he was not happy with the work completed - the patio is uneven in many spots and presents tripping hazards. There were areas where there was barely any sand in place to bond the stones. The patio is not level or square. He had to replace a few stones at my husbands request because he had placed slivers of stones to fill gaps. It looked horrible. We will never recommend this company to anyone. He is very unprofessional. Even went so far as asking me to lie to another customer of his about our dig out date because he had pushed him off to do my patio. This guy ended up firing John and getting true professionals to do the job properly. If you want a contractor that you have to chase down, that will lie to you and about you, that does not know how to manage his time, his company, his jobs, that accepts jobs knowing full well that he does not have the proper equipment or knowledge to complete the jobs, that will spend a large portion of his time on social media while he is supposed to be completing work at your place (I have the photos, videos and screenshots to back this up) then this is your guy. However, if you want a professional that can do the job in a timely manner and will communicate with you, then this is NOT the guy for you. There is a reason why people say that you should never hire friends to do work for you - this was a prime example of that. Lesson learned. My goal is to try to prevent just one more person from going through the hassles that we did. DO NOT USE TOTTENHAM PAVING AND CONSTRUCTION LTD. OR JOHN GENOVA!

John and his crew did a solid job! Professional and extremely on point. The reviews that are bad are false! Trust me! Hired John to fix my front and back, he came by and gave me an honest opinion that was very on point. Geared me towards concrete and was 100 percent correct. Price was on market but work shows well beyond it’s worth. Best part of it is that john was available and answered every question I had. If I did not understand john made time to come and show me. You get what you pay for..but with John and his team, you get more then that in benefit. This is the guy for concrete jobs!

We contacted three companies to install a concrete walkway/patio. My husband, and I felt Tottenham Paving & Construction was by far the right fit for us. The customer service was friendly and prompt. We received a call to schedule to schedule the work. The guys arrived promptly, were professional, took great care of the landscaping and did a fantastic job with the excavation on the first visit. They came back 3 weeks later, formed in the evening, and poured the following morning. I will recommend John Genova owner/operator of Tottenham Paving & Construction in a heartbeat to anyone who needs residential work. Shop local and support local business!! Thank you John.
