I love this store. Contrary to several other reviews, I've always found the staff to be friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. They seem to have a bit of everything. I went in for embroidery thread and they carried a better selection than I had seen at Michael's in Nanaimo.

Love this store...can always walk out with something. Great card selection and some good lines in ladies' clothing. Shall return.

Quality and fashionable clothing especially for seniors and people needing adaptable clothing. A mini department store.

I can't believe how much they pack into this store and how long its been a part of this community. I remember shopping at Steadmans as a kid with my mom.

It’s okay! Like a mini Winners mixed with a dollarama, good threading material for embroidery

Fell victim to extreme profiling here, whether it was racial or something else I am unsure. An employee named Danielle was particularly aggressive, verbally insulting and threatening with police action while I was calmly explaining my situation. Purchased a Bluetooth speaker and lamp at the store here. Excited to go camping that night I ducked out of the rain just aside the library so I could check out the funky new toy id bought. A Bluetooth speaker with a flashlight, disco lights' and a usb charger? Sweet! Something felt odd when I opened the box or perhaps broken as there were multiple components moving inside, thought it might be broken until I realized the tape had been tampered with - it has already been opened. When I opened it, the garbage in the picture below dumped out. Shame, I thought, someone's pulled a fast one on them and I've ended up paying for it. Best go tell them what I've found. When I broughht the whole package back and explained to them that somebody must have managed to buy the original lamp and returned the package filled with trash, the employees all scoffed at me. Not at all the response I expected. One woman held up the dirty tape and said something about how it looked like it might be mine. I was caught off guard but managed to stay calm, asked to purchase another unit and leave the returned trash with my name on the box so I could speak with the manager the next day. The next couole days were horrendously stormy and terrible for camping so I didn't even think about returning to the store until a couple days later. When I did, a whole story had evolved around the lamp. They had decided that I had left the building and filled it up with garbage myself, therefore returning it. This makes absolutely no sense considering I bought a second lamp immediately after. I tried to explain calmly how there were cameras at the library that could show me pulling the garbage out of the package immediately after purchase, but instead of agreeing or considering looking at these videos the employees became increasingly aggressive and threatening. I was already frustrated with having been ignored and treated badly the first time I tried to return this garbage to the store. I understand that it's unfortunate that this incident happened, however, I don't believe it's the customers duty to deal with the financial cost of petty thievery. As their accusations grew more and more intense I finally raised my own voice and told them I was tired of being profiled and that yes, please, I would like a refund for this garbage that I purchased after one of your cashiers failed to properly check the contents of a box before refunding someone. At this point they threatened to call the police, which I actively encouraged because that would most likely accelerate the chance of having the videos from the library shown to these aggressive cashiers. When they saw that I was serious about encouraging police interaction, they mumbled and muttered and issued my refund, telling me not to return to the store ever again. When I questioned why they were banning me when I'd done nothing wrong, the woman named Danielle once again grew very aggressive and simply screamed, get out! I would like to not that as I stood around the side of the building afterwards, taking some deep breaths to calm down and try to wrap my head around what had just happened, one of the cashiers came out to offer reassurances. She assured me that the aggressive lady had a habit of being condescending and rude and that I should not take her attacks personally. I found this very thoughtful and extended her my gratitude and thanks and wished her the best before continuing my day.

Tiny little retail store in town, they got all the typical stuff and its crammed into this place so what out if you're using a cart! This was the only place in town where I could fine a toilet brush that wasn't white, crazy! Staff is awesome and helpful, definetly going back.

Good local store with huge variety of items. Friendly, helpful staff. Have purchased many basics here, including bedding, mats, underwear, household items, hummingbird feeders, seasonal items and more. No need to drive to Nanaimo!
