We loved our stay at Sir Sam's! My girlfriend and I had our RMT massage with Christine on Sunday (amazing, thanks again Christine!). We bought the meal plan which included a full menu of breakfast and dinner options. The meals were delicious, and we're happy we choose this upgrade. Also, compliments to our main server Aaron, the staff at Sir Sam's Inn and Spa, as well as the staff at Sir Sam's Ski Resort. Everyone was friendly and helpful and welcoming. These places are truly a gem in Haliburton. Between the shared camp fire in front, the private fire place in our room, to the friendly guests at the bar, and the views, we had a relaxing get away and would love to return (maybe in the summer this time to be different). The only issue we had was with the shower in room 8. The handle was broke or not working and we resorted to using the showers in the Spa area, which worked out fine too because robes, shampoo, body wash, and towels were also provided there as well. Thanks again to all the team there who made our stay so memorable.

We had an awesome time at Sir Sam’s! The inside of the property is a bit rundown (mainly in the common areas), but the rooms have definitely been refreshed and have actual wood burning fireplaces which is an awesome touch. The waterspa was also incredible - 3 different spas within the pool itself, and since the resort was at half capacity, we had the pool to ourselves the whole time. The best part- we got the meal plan package, and oh wow was the food delicious! We’d return just for the meal alone! Thanks to Joshua for his warm welcome to the resort. Overall a great stay and looking forward to returning again in the future!

An awesome place to rejuvenate and bring yourself back into balance. The nature there is amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food was great loved everything we had and the staff work hard to ensure you have a pleasing meal. The rooms are rustic, no air conditioning in the summer so check for a cooler room when you book. They have wood fireplaces in every room which is a really nice feature in the winter. We did have a couple of issues, but once I spoke to the Manager they were quickly addressed. We will definitely return.

My girlfriend and I came here to use the water spa and it was great. We felt the facilities were fine and it was clean. Staff was good to us. My only criticism is that we called a head twice a month a head for myself and my girlfriend once. I spoke with a gentleman once and lady employee. Same with my girlfriend, they did not mention calling a head was beneficial to the staff. In fact they were actually closed for upgrades to the faculty, however the girl at the front desk was generous enough to let us use the water spa. So basically I’d recommend but if you read this call ahead.

The food was amazing along with the service. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We both had massage and they were the best I have ever had, the therapist was so professional. We will definitely go back.

Great location and comfy beds. However, that’s about it with the positives. The staff are mostly nowhere to be found. The TV sound doesn’t work, and no one around to fix it. There’s no microwave and nearest restaurant is 20 minutes away. No internet in the room and staff tell lies about it to customers. The internet that was available by reception was very poor. No one serviced our room in five days, not even to take out the garbage, no change of towels, no replenishing of tea coffee etc. It’s the only accommodation for miles around so maybe they don’t have to try very hard. Not what you’d expect for 21st century in Ontario - more like say Arizona in the 1950s. a very disappointing experience

Was there two weeks ago with my fiancé for our anniversary. I didn’t want to leave. The food was amazing, the room was great. It was a little piece of paradise. Thank you for everything, and I hope to come back

I’ll get right to it: The good: - The property itself is gorgeous. Beautiful view of the lake with lounge chairs all around to sit and watch the sunset. Lovely trees and a view of the lake right from our room. - Very comfortable bed/pillows - Huge jet tub (fits two people) in the room with nice wooden features - Room was clean with coffee maker inside - the fireplace in the room was just lovely - walk out room with table and chairs to enjoy a private morning coffee - Food in the restaurant is no doubt delicious and perfectly prepared! Hats off to the chef! (Food is expensive but you get what you pay for) - The water spa is beautiful with a large window and view of the lake - The massage we received was great The bad: - We were left wishing there was a little more direction provided for our stay. Staff were sparse (we waited at the front desk for about ten minutes before somebody greeted us, and that was only because I poked my head around the place and called out a “… hello?”. We didn’t know, is the water potable? How does the spa work? Where do we go for our massage? Are we allowed to use the tennis courts? The canoes? Are we allowed to use the fire pit by the lake? How do we start the fire in our room with only large logs provided (no kidding, paper, or matches). We were sort of left to guess everything which was a bit annoying. I feel like we probably missed out on things because we didn’t know any better. A small handout with information about the place would have been very much appreciated. - The water smells like fish. This includes the water served in the restaurant and the water in the tub. I realize it’s lake water but, it certainly is off-putting. Maybe provide some essential oils by the tub? We had to buy our own water to drink. - The water spa could use a little TLC. The blue benches looked like they were dirty so we didn’t want to sit on them. Also half the jets didn’t work in the spa. - The common areas of the main building could use a facelift as well. The chairs and tables in the screened-in porch were all in disarray and the games room things were sort of just… askew. A quick tidy up and modernization would make those areas a lot more inviting. Overall, I feel it is a beautiful place to get away. It is quiet and serene and if you love being close to nature this place is lovely and relaxing. That being said, greater attention to detail and the guest experience could really take this place to the next level and turn a “meh” into a “wow!”…. that’s the kind of place that gets recommended to a friend.
