About Killarney Mountain Lodge & Conference Centre

Expanded in the 1940’s and early 1950’s by the Fruehauf Corporation, Killarney Mountain Lodge was designed to function as a private corporate retreat for clients, partners and staff. Accessible only by seaplane or boat, guests were brought to the Lodge for a unique wilderness experience. Taking full advantage of the thick forest and peaceful waterfront, guests would spend the majority of their stay canoeing, fishing and hunting.

In 1962, the Lodge was sold to Maury and Annabelle East, the lovely couple that would go on to own and operate the property for more than 50 years. Much like the Resort’s current owners, the East family was incredibly passionate about sharing the magic of Killarney Mountain Lodge with the travellers from near and far. Upon opening the Lodge to the general public in the early 1960’s, a 68 kilometre highway was built connecting the quiet retreat to the rest of the world.

After decades of dedication, in 2015 the East family passed the torch to the resort’s current owners, Holden & Carey Rhodes, who remain strongly committed to both preserving and developing the Killarney Mountain Lodge experience.

I went to the restaurant and I would not recommend it. There were 6 people at the table, including myself, and there was no seasoning at all in our dishes. One person received their dish and they had a hair in it, Thank goodness I pointed it out as soon as the waitress put the plate on the table. Also I cant believe I spent 35$ on a salad with shrimps in it that tasted like nothing.. would not recommend the restaurant. I gave a three star rating cause the rest of the lodge looks beautiful.

We arrived at KML for a birthday occasion. We were pleased with the room, well equipped, nice, clean and comfy. Staff are very friendly. What a nice setting, beautiful, peaceful and gorgeous picturesque ! Had a very enjoyable hike to the light house led by Nathan, best tour leader with good humor and amazing knowledge, a real naturalist indeed! A good wine cellar, more improvements to the food would be welcome.

My wife and I were planning our wedding here - unfortunately couldn't go through due to COVID. However the folks here were great to work with, very helpful and friendly, the property is beautiful, and the catered food we tried during the tasting was amazing. Would consider planning and event here in a heartbeat!

It was an amazing place to stay. Very close to the provincial park, good food and clean accommodations. The food could definitely do with some improvement. They had a wide range of wine selection, and the staff was very courteous and friendly. Best spot for kayaking in the morning to catch the sun rise.

Our group reservation was for ~20 people at the restaurant. We only came to the lodge to eat. The service was very unorganized even though our group submitted our meals the day prior. It took at least 30 minutes to serve us our drinks while other parties were served very quickly (~3-5 minutes). Appetizers were served before drinks for most of our party while one couple in our group finished their apps and half of their main course before their bottle of wine came out. Originally, the wine was ordered with drinks then the server has to come by to say they forgot what wine they ordered. Pretty sure they forgot the order again because half the course was done before it was brought out. The food was so and so. I had a small chicken wrap for $20 which seemed overpriced based on size and flavour. We had some lemon seeds and tomatoes in our salads when they weren't supposed to be in the salad so it threw the taste off. The kitchen also needs to double check their fish courses prior to serving because one of our fish orders was undercooked so we had to send it back. We brought some of these issues to our server so she would grab the dish for return and sigh heavily as she walked away. I like visiting the lodge in the summer but I will stay away from eating at the restaurant.

We booked a 2 night stay at the Killarney Mountain Lodge and Conference Centre to celebrate my husband's 70th Birthday. We arrived with our service dog and were shown to a cabin which they told us was the nicest one - number 71. The condition of the cabin was appalling in every way. We had arranged for the Canadian meal plan for that one night but had already made the decision that we would leave the next morning as we felt the cabin was unfit to stay in. We advised the front desk and were told that the manager would be informed. The girl we spoke to was very kind and helpful and she suggested that we could stay in a newer 2 story building with our service dog. Unfortunately it was on the second floor accessible only by a stairway. This was not possible as my husband is handicapped so we reiterated that we wished to leave that morning. We tried many times to reach the general manager by phone and by email - we were unsuccessful after repeated attempts. He eventually emailed us two days later saying we could not get a refund for the second night and on top of that we had been charged for a meal plan for the second which we never ordered. He also advised that there were be a credit that would extend for a year. Of course we never plan on going back so expressed our thoughts that we should at least get our money back for the meal plan we never agreed to. The management at this resort are very unprofessional and this place should be avoided.

Magical. Beautiful. Great food. Just one thing: since it's also a conference centre, there is a need for a better and stronger wifi signal.

We enjoyed an early season visit. Two days of awesome beauty. No black flies. The meals were delicious. The facilities could do with some paint but lovely inside the rooms.
