Postal line up is always a mile long with only one clerk ever working the counter, store shelves are empty more often than not, down to one cashier up front, at least half of the self checkout machines are out of order on the regular, store hours have been reduced to unacceptable hours. This place needs work to say the least

I have been coming here for over a decade... this will be the last time... in recent months the place had become a disaster. I am sitting hear waiting for the meds that were supposed to be ready 30 hours ago.... they had not even started to filling of them. As I sit here others are finding that their meds are not ready and packaged incorrectly.... Oh and customer care people, instead of just writing a placading response, actually send a team out to get this place operating again in the much more efficient manner of the past. Check the social media in this community.. see that the complaints about this store have exploded in recent months. I personally thought it can't be that bad, but I have found that, yup it is.

Went to pick up a package from the post office at 6:30 pm with my notice, which stated pick-up was available until 8 pm. Multiple staff were standing around in the post office but they refused to give me my package, stating they weren't open? They were completely dismissive when I showed them my slip that stated I could pick up until 8:00 and when I explained I had just invested time and gas to get there within stated hours.

Shockingly terrible service at the Pharmacy. Numerous times have been told prescriptions would be ready and after driving half an hour to store am told otherwise. Recently after arriving to pick up meds was told that Dr never sent in refill prescription lol. This was after I phoned pharmacy to confirm it had been and was told when to pick up due all the other issues. Had Dr office send to different pharmacy near work and ready in an hour.

Yesterday we wanted to pick up one of the free rapid test kits for 70 yr olds but before driving in, tried to call the Shoppers Evergreen pharmacy to confirm they had them. It rang and rang without even a busy message…just rang unanswered. Since when does a Pharmacy not answer its phone? Drove in anyway and was told the test kits weren’t able to be ordered until yesterday, so to wait another week…but today on social networking a sr friend said she had just picked up her free kit there. When I asked a pharm tech yesterday why they don’t pick up their phone, he said they were too busy filling back orders. Today I at least got satisfaction from speaking to Customer Service support. He checked and said there should be some free kits available to us today, so we’re off to try again. Since it was sold and they let go of so many staff for self checkout machines, it hasn’t been the same. I especially miss having staff who know the product lines in Cosmetics.

This review actually has zero yellow stars. Updated again! I visited SDM yesterday, March 3rd, Old Folks Thursday, to expedite the transfer of my Rx records to my new pharmacy. Bought some eggs. No cashier. She was on break, I was told. The store was busy, full of us oldsters, and only the self-checkouts were available. They do not recognize the Seniors Discount. But there was a staff member helping out, a nice fellow who may be a supervisor, may not...I pointed out that the current situation of no cashier was ridiculous. He agreed, and added "I couldn't make this stuff up". Clearly exasperated. I asked who was managing the store, and his answer was "I don't know". I know. It is a family of monkeys who escaped from the circus. Must be. Updated! I contacted SDM customer service through the 1-800 number suggested by the owner. The response was so unsatisfactory that I followed the advice I gave to the management team here in Sooke...I fired them. Most of my business here is with the pharmacy. Terrible service recently. They "lost" my annual Rx renewal documents for the third year in a row, and this year twice...they also lost the faxed replacement copy sent by my GP as a result of my SOS call. High staff turnover in that department, and I am not convinced they are all qualified to do their jobs. The last time I went for a refill the young woman I spoke to did not have an adequate command of English, and she could not find my Rx despite her having my ID in her hand. Generally the store floor is quite dirty, always an indicator of the level of upkeep...in this case the lack of it. I have been in the store on Old Folks Thursdays, with the long line at the single open till. The cashier on duty also has to help seniors at the self-checkout stations because the units don't recognize the senior discount. Management should fire itself...my opinion. As I wrote at the start of the review, I followed my advice to them...I fired them myself.

I have never experienced such disorganization in a pharmacy before. They on every occasion have either forgot to fill my prescription, have given me the incorrect prescription after calling and stating clearly what I needed, or have told me the time my prescription was going to be ready & made me wait an extra hour, or to come back the next day. This not only has happened to me several times, but my husband as well. I do everything in my power to ensure everything is ready (calling beforehand, confirming they are filling the right medicine, the time it will be ready, etc.) before the travel over, but each time there is a mess up. They are inconsiderate to peoples days & schedules, and this can be very dangerous considering they are in charge of peoples needed medicine - which can be time sensitive. 1 star is generous. Changing pharmacies and travelling to Langford due to the carelessness of this one each and every visit.

My friend bought a $65 eye serum as a treat for herself being as we only turn 50 once. When she opened it the next day the container had already been completely opened and used! She brought it back the next day. Not only would they not replace it, they had the audacity to suggest that she had used it all! In one day?! Are you serious? She is a First Nations woman and they treated her like a thief in a store full of people, completely humiliating her. I want her to go to management and she isn't going to, she said $65 isn't worth being treated like that. Shame on these people! Not only incredibly poor customer service but obvious racists as well. One star is too high a rating.
