Sarah McGivern, R.Psych, Grasslands Psychological Services - Calgary

Sarah McGivern, R.Psych, Grasslands Psychological Services, provides supportive, non-judgmental counselling services to adults, youth and children in the Calgary area.  Sarah is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She is passionate about healing, wellness and living fully.

Sarah seeks to empower clients to better understand themselves, their experiences and their choices. In collaboration with clients, Sarah explores life challenges while also building upon the skills and strengths they already possess. The therapeutic experience is highly dependent on building a comfortable therapeutic relationship that considers client preferences. You are the expert of your own life. Sarah is there to help you in that journey.

Sarah uses a relational, client-centred, strengths-based approach. She incorporates evidence-based interventions backed by research, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques, relaxation techniques and mindfulness practices. Her approach with youth and children includes expressive arts, sand tray therapy and basic play therapy skills.

Sarah has a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Adler University in Vancouver, BC and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of British Columbia. She continually upgrades her skills through professional development, consultation and supervision. Sarah has additional training in trauma recovery, expressive arts, play therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy Level 1, to name a few.

When Sarah is not at work she is usually enjoying time relaxing, hiking in the mountains and spending time with family.
