★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very disappointing experience at Sakura Island today, which is unfortunate since I’ve had better experiences in the past but will be very hesitant to go back after today.
Once our food was delivered, the waitress rushed away and did not return, I tried to say something and couldn’t get her attention, that is how quickly she was gone. Our water was empty by that point, and we received no offer for a refill until we had completed our entire meal. They never came by to ensure everything was ok and we had everything we needed, which was unfortunate since I wanted additional ginger for with my sushi. No water, no additional ginger. We even attempted to flag her down several times without success.
A member of our party ordered noodle soup, and there was a piece of plastic in the bowl of soup. This was pointed out to the waitress and she kind of laughed, she didn’t even apologize or offer anything to remedy the situation. I cannot believe there was no remedy to the situation of plastic being served in a meal that someone had to pull out of their mouth.
Also, the sushi was mediocre at best, way too much spicy mayo. There are much better options in town.
My biggest issue with this experience was the lack of service, and lack of remedy to the situation of Sakura Island serving their customers plastic. If there is plastic in the food and they don’t even care, it really makes me question the quality of the rest of their food.
Sakura Island lost a customer today.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited this restaurant on a Saturday night around 7:30pm. We found the service to be quite slow as it seemed our server who sat us forgot about us. We ordered apps, but then didn't get a chance to order our main meal for another 35 minutes, ended up having to get up and wave down a server. After we ordered, our food came and it was absolutely amazing! One of the best Japanese restaurants we have been too. Food came out quickly after that and was very hot and looked amazing. However, had to get up and ask the waitress for service again at the end as they seemed to have forgotten about us. Found it quite odd that they didn't ask us for drinks and weren't supplied a drink menu on the table or online. Food was amazing, service was poor. Hoping it was a fluke and next time will be better.

I prefer dining in the restaurant more comparing to take out, because the atmosphere at the restaurant is good and the dishes will be fresher, the way they decor the dishes in the restaurant also better! I ordered a lot to try, I love the deep fried oyster, their dishes with salmon or sashimi. I not really like the chicken katsu don, or maybe it was shipped long time ti my house, so it lost its original taste ?
