My bike chain snapped just as I got off the ferry at the beginning of our 5 day bike trip. After I got the bus to Sidney three of them got my bike up and running within minutes although they were supposed to be closed. Loved their dog Caramel

We went into this bike shop to look for a bike rack for 2 ebikes. The one gentleman was helpful and put together the one rack he felt would work for us. We went in and another person tried to help us fit our bikes onto the rack. That particular rack did not work. We asked to try another rack, which was demonstrated at another shop downtown Victoria. However, we were told that it would not work either. I think this person was not knowledgeable as to the product they were selling and how to install ebikes onto it. We purchased the bike rack from another shop in Victoria where they were selling the exact same rack and knew that our bikes would fit and were very helpful in installing a demo model so that we knew the rack and bikes would fit onto it and be secure. We are disappointed in the service we received at Russ Hays in Sidney as we would have purchased locally.

Friendly, honest, timely, lifesaving service! Russ Hayes bike shop (literally) saved my life. I recently purchased a cheap second-hand bike having planned to ride the Lochside trail with my family. We got off the ferry in Swartz Bay and my handbrake broke at the top of the first hill. My sister’s tire also had a slow leak. Luckily we found Russ Hay’s. We walked in desperately off the street and they were able to help right away. They changed the brake pads and brake cable right in front of me, and were very honest. He recommended better bike brands to purchase in the future, and didn’t upsell me to fix the front brake or untrue wheels (which were also bad). He wanted me to save my money and not put more into the low-quality bike I’m planning to resell. He showed me how best to deal with the temperamental brakes of my second-hand department store bike. All that and a flat repair for a fraction of the price we would have paid at home. We were blown away by their quality service and left very happy. I’d like to buy a better bike from them and give them my business, but unfortunately logistics while out of town are preventing me from doing so. Amazing business, thank you!!

I have had my KHS bike for around 10 years, recent tune-up by Russ Hay's team made it feel like new. Thanks so much.

First shop visit as I begun an 8,000km epic across Canada. Really impressive shop and friendly staff, considering most shops in Vic are staffed by entitled bike snobs trying to rip you off. Not so at Russ Hays. Got me kitted out with a new bar bag, lent me some tools and sent me on my merry way. Great purchase (Ortlieb Waterproof) keeps all my electronics nice and dry even during the nastiest rain and hailstorms, which you'll definitely get stuck in if going across this beautiful country. Recommend this shop for sure!

Excellent service and incredibly friendly staff. A bike shop can be an intimidating place when you're not sure what you need, but these guys go above and beyond to help. I know my bike is in good hands. Will be back for sure.

I waited six weeks to get my bike in for maintenance and brought it in today at the appointed time. Within an hour, they called me to advise that they won't work on the bike explaining that there was a crack in the seat tube - it had been welded previously and the weld had cracked. I can't say enough positive about this very wise and appropriate response. They did tweak a couple of minor things for me with no charge and told me that when the weld was repaired, they would have my bike back right away. This is the kind of approach to service that we all want and I am happy to give 5 stars on this experience. I'm pleased to have them as my local bike shop.
