Rockland Veterinary Hospital

As a healthcare professional who owns my own clinic, I know good customer service when I see it. The team at Rockland are great! My Miso is a chow and chows are known to be unpredictable, so I asked Miso’s sister’s dad for the recommendation. I drove from Toronto to Hamilton and it was worth it. The team gives me a good vibe compared to my Toronto vet and they are very reassuring. Thanks team for taking care of Miso today!

They are quick, prompt and professional. Staff is friendly and very accommodating. This is a small clinic - they go the distance with customer service and ensuring my pet is healthy. There is curbside care. Your pet is picked up from the car and payment is done in the car. My pet had her shots done and an exam. I didn't get to meet the veterinarian in person. A full report on paper was given to me along with a sample of dog food. This is the 2nd visit, earlier this year my pup skinned her paws. They were able to take her in without a huge cost for the exam. The assessment and advice given were very reasonable and they didn't try to push unnecessary medications or bandages. She healed up just fine. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the plaza is under renovations and it is difficult to navigate (not their fault - it's their property management company). The lines in the parking lot are barely visible and it's quite tight to make turns to get in and out of parking spots. Albeit, parking is free.

I just upgraded this review based on my experience yesterday. We were brought in quickly just before the appointment. The receptionist, vet tech and vet were professional and efficient. I think the vet's name was Dr King and I recommend him over the other vets we've seen. We did not ask for a nail trim since we were billed last time. Our 2 cats love the fleece catnip toys made by one of the vet techs for a cat charity she operates and they are only for $1 each! This was my post last year at 3 stars: I've been taking my cats here for years and the other day I had a bad experience which would have been rated 2 stars if it had been my first time. I received a call to have my cats' annual vaccinations which included a rabies shot so it was considered an essential service. I scheduled their appointment and when we got there, we weren't allowed inside due to covid. This was not explained to me when I scheduled the appointment. I would not have taken them if I couldn't be in the room with them as the whole visit is stressful enough. I feel that this detail was omitted on purpose because many pet owners would want to be with their pets and ask questions to the veterinarian, etc. I would have waited to schedule the appointment until I could be with them. But since we were there and had completed the torment of getting them in their carriers we kept the appointment. I would not do that unnecessarily as one cat really freaks out and gets a bloody front nail from pawing the carrier. So my husband and I were standing outside in the rain with one cat outside with us because I didn't want him to think we were going home if I put him back in the car. My bill came to $635 for two cats' checkups, bloodwork, and vaccinations (we got the 3 year rabies one). On the receipt we were surprised to see a $40 charge for the 2 nail trims we requested. In the past I'm sure it was free of charge with the vaccinations. When I inquired they said something about it being free every fifth time. What? When you're spending that kind of money I feel it should be covered and we should have been told it was now a charge, because we would have done it at home. By the way, our cats are very good at the vet just scared. They let us trim their nails with ease I just thought since they were going to the vet anyways they could get a professional job. The staff has always been pretty decent so I'm not giving a bad rating but I just want other people to be aware of those 2 things when choosing their veterinarian.

Quick service and fast appointment but lacked some technology (no computer so can't send/receive documents) and the receptionist tried diagnosing my dog's limp before he saw the vet. Hard to comment further because due to covid I wasn't able to go into the clinic

Totally disappointed in their service.. I was lied to by a staff member about a product I had ordered. She said I never ordered the product but I 100% know I did. It was a cremation item for my pet. It was the way she handled it that was totally sad, because she twisted the story and lied to me, so much so, that I will never go back there again. Having another staff member come out to ask if she was ok when I just got there was also a totally unprofessional way to deal with this matter, I saw it all for what it was. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. I have been going there off and on for years but they have really gone down hill and I have at this point lost my trust in them and their service ethics are 1/10.

Everybody is always pleasant and willing to help. My daughter's Chow had a spaying operation there, and it went very well. Highly recommend

Adopted a cat from here for my Mother. The staff couldn't have been more professional. You can tell they truly care about the animals. Sage is doing well and loving her new home. Thank you.
