Rexall - Edmonton

I was beyond unimpressed with the pharmacist and her lack of knowledge regarding infants. My 8month old baby had croup cough and our physician gave me a prescription for dexamethasone stressing on the prescription to provide a concentrated version. I dropped off the prescription at Rexall and was informed the wait was 15-20min so I opted to take my sick baby and other children home and have my husband pick up the prescription later that day. He picked up the filled prescription without looking at what he was bringing home for $39. It was a SINGLE DOSE of 55ml of elixer. Anyone with children knows how difficult it already is to get 1-5ml of Tylenol into a sick baby. I then called the pharmacist to inquire on how to possibly get 55ml into an exclusively breastfeed baby and get this too, on a FULL STOMACH. She asked me to try a bottle, or dilute with formula... Both if which we did not have on hand. This and to simply (yes, she seemed to believe 'simply') get all of the medication in within an hour was the only information she could provide. This was a Friday night and our doctor was already gone for the evening so other than heading to emergency for a new prescription, we were out of luck on getting the proper medication should her croup act up again. Soon after the phone call my baby's cough began to show up again, so we started forcing the medication in with a 3ml dropper. She was beyond hysterical and coughing by the time we finally got all of it in, and the moment we sat her up, all 55ml plus her full stomach of milk was vomited all over both of us and the floor. We were now out of medication for our sick baby, without a prescription to refill it, she was coughing from the ordeal, and to top it off we were out the $39 for the whole endeavor. I proceeded to look up dexamethasone and noted it could also come in tablet form; are pharmacists not able to crush and mix a tablet into a medium as required? I otherwise could have done this myself... I would expect any proper pharmacist would have made mention of the incorrect form of the drug they had on hand for a baby and suggest I try elsewhere, rather than fill a prescription with the wrong medication format for the patient. I will never go back to this Rexall, nor any other Rexall pharmacy or store, after this horrible experience.

Worst experiance I've ever had I filled a prescription two weeks in advance because they had to order it in and when I got here to pick up 30 minutes before my appointment they said they didn't have it and then tried to explain that the guy who did my prescription doesn't work there often and doesn't know what he's doing .... That's very reassuring. Becareful who you get your medication from people I'd stay away from this place. Terrible service.

It's a wonderful feeling to know that there are kind people out there taking it upon themselves to put a smile on the faces of others in need, especially during these challenging times battling COVID. Thank you Rexall Pharmacy staff for this kind gesture, I really appreciate it!

My family has filled prescriptions here since it opened and there is one pharmacist in particular whose name I forget but will find out and update. She is SO kind and remembers us and our illnesses and asks how we are. I absolutely love her!

The pharmacists here are amazing people , they actually take the time to explain and answer all of your questions.

I have been using this pharmacy for at least 5 years. It was convenient because my doctor's office was in the same building. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about this pharmacy. In particular, Anita (not the correct spelling of her name -- I believe she is the manager) has always gone above and beyond with anything I've needed or with any questions that I've had. She remembered who I was right from the get go and I feel she is genuinely concerned about my well being. When I went through breast cancer treatments 3 years ago and would get my pre-chemo treatment prescriptions filled, Anita was always so compassionate, kind, and caring without ever mentioning my condition. I actually looked forward to coming in to get my medications! Out of all the medical professionals I dealt with during that difficult time, I felt the most comforted by Anita's demeanor and professionalism. She exuded the most care and compassion of them all. My doctor is no longer in that building and has moved across town, but I still bring in my prescriptions to this Rexall even though it is no longer convenient. I can't speak highly enough about Anita. (In addition, the entire store is always very clean, and neat, and well organized.) When I originally wrote the review above, I should have also mentioned that all of the pharmacy staff have been awesome. Although I'm always disappointed when Anita is not on shift when I come in, I am treated very well and professionally by all the staff.

When we first moved to Edmonton we decided do to make Rexall Pharmacy our place to shop for our drug store needs because they had Airmiles as an incentive. A year or so ago they dropped Airmiles for there own reward program that I wasn’t interested in. My husband continued to shop there as they sold discounted books. He would frequently shop on a Tuesday ( seniors day) for his books, and his hygiene products. Today (Tuesday) I decided to go with him for the 20% discount and we were told at the counter with all our purchases that you now have to have a Rexall loyalty card for the discount. It’s free! But you have to download it. We do not have the technology to download. Good-bye Rexall!

I have been using this pharmacy for several years. The staff here is the friendliest, most helpful I have ever experienced. It is always a pleasure to come here. The cashiers are also friendly and welcoming, and the entire place is clean, quiet and bright.
