About Purdys Chocolatier

We're a Canadian chocolatier with a rich history.

Our founder, Richard Carmon Purdy, started selling homemade chocolates in downtown Vancouver, Canada in 1907. After 100+ years of crafting fine chocolates, you get to know a thing or two about doing it right.

At Purdys, everyone - from our chocolatiers to our in-shop chocolate connoisseurs - is always inspired to take you away from the ordinary. We source premium-quality ingredients from around the world, and choose local options whenever possible. We never compromise on quality, and you bet you can taste it.

Our chocolates are made with sustainable cocoa. We pay a premium for sustainable cocoa to ensure our farmer partners and co-ops are supported by programs that improve their profit and the livelihoods of their families. It's really quite simple, it's a choice we've made because it's the right choice to make.

Truly Canadian and truly delicious, Purdys is a family-owned company that's proudly all about chocolate.

Not a big selection of individual dark chocolates this time, plenty of everything else. I love their chocolate and always such pleasant service.

The chocolate is great, but genuine customer service is not quite there. I mean anyone can read a script. Myself if I go to a chocolatier I expect a certain amount of knowledge and perhaps passion in teaching others about it. Sales associates won't understand until they meet the chef behind the creation.

I was at the Purdy's in the St. Albert mall and was very impressed with the level of service. I had stressed an allergy concern to Bonnie (salesperson) who was assisting me with my purchase. Although there were no guarantee, she took the time and special care to put together a Valentine's Day box of chocolates for me, and was very friendly and polite while doing so. It is rare to come by such care - Thank you.

Went into the store to buys three teachers gifts, a boxed set ($15) and two large boxes of hedgehogs ($30 each). There was another customer in the store who was undecided about buying the box set that was on the shelf. The associate in the store took the boxed set down and said she would hold onto it for the other customer until she decided if she would take it. I asked if she could make me another box set up and she said NO as they didn't have any more boxes. I then asked if she could assemble all the contents of the box (minus the box, obviously,) so that I could purchase it and wrap it myself. She said of course she could do that but that she was going to charge me the individual prices of the boxed set contents ($27) rather than the $15 sale price. I was completely incredulous and asked, "So, you are going to sell me a $15 boxed set, without the box, for $27?!?! " to which she replied "That's correct." Spend your money somewhere else, maybe somewhere that has some common sense and customer service. Needless to say, I left the store empty handed and won't be going back.

Took my son, daughter, and nephew to buy chocolates for their mothers. The children were very excited over the wide selection and they were all able to pick items that they felt their mothers would love. The staff was very helpful and patient with the kids. She took the time to answer all of their questions, describe the product is terms they could understand, and even played along with some of their silly antics. I am very happy with my experience and will definitely be going back.

I am a regular customer at the St. Albert Purdys. I do a lot of baking and always use the 70% nines for this purpose. I was excited when Purdys finally came to St. Albert so I wouldn't have to pick up my baking supplies in Edmonton. However, the St. Albert location is frequently sold out of 70% nines and they never have additional stock in the back. Today, I still buy my 70% nines in Edmonton as they always have much better stock there. If the 70% nine baking bars are so popular, it would be helpful for this location to order more and keep better stock. I have spoken to staff there about this, however this item continues to be in poor stock. I really do love the chocolate here and it is well worth the money for baking. Please keep more stock! Thank you.
