Pink Pearl Chinese Seafood Restaurant

Pink Pearl has the best service for Chinese restaurants that my wife and I have experienced in the Lower Mainland. The dim sum here is outstanding. Portions are large and food is fresh! They recently brought back the dim sum carts which makes for a great experience if you are bringing friends/family who are new to dim sum. Restaurant is very large and spacious so you don't often have to worry about waiting. There is also a large parking lot to the side of the restaurant so it's easily accessible. Eating dinner here as always been a treat as well. Haven't run into issues and taste and service have been consistent. It costs a little more than average here but it is well worth it. Make sure to sign up for their rewards program.

The shrimp and rock dumplings were huge, and very fresh. Would recommend for the main dim sum dishes. The other items were decent. But nothing to rave about

Pink pearl goes back to the days when Vancouver Chinatown was THE centre of the Chinese community and was quite successful because of its proximity to much of the Chinese citizens before the spectacular and rapid rise of Richmond for all things Chinese. They had lots of worthy competitors like Flamingo, Peninsula etc but managed to survive because of its proximity to China town, large size which accommodates the large Chinese weddings and banquets and its decent food. Well the food has NOT evolved like most other decent Chinese restaurants and remains just ….. huge proportioned. This dependence on size first - which was the way Chinese restaurants used to compete to attract the western clientele ( Hey, let’s save some money, let’s have good, cheap Chinese food tonight!!) is very apparent in their dim sums. Each dim sum morsel is huge and packed with as much stuff as they can manage to squeeze in them. So lots of their dim sums have thick skins and lots of carbs! Har gow, Siu Mai, in thick skin, low baak Ko (daikon cake ) at least twice as thick as what’s served elsewhere, rice rolls - (wow such a huge platter), beef balls also huge, but honestly, they were all very acceptable tasting even though the purist dim sum connoisseur will scoff at my quite plebeian taste! Shrimp toast? Yeah, greasy but it’s got so much shrimp on the toast, it was a bit of caloric treat! The same with the egg custard tart - which are NOT that big as I’d have expected from the size of the other dim sums - but sooo good and in a soft flaky shell. Then the piece d’resistance for me - beef offal! Yup, disgusting beef innards which I love, but which was so tasty! Never mind the cholesterol and Uric acid, I loved it and the bowl was filled to overflowing with all this goodness! Yup, the mark of Pink pearl - everything is huge. So best if you are going to go there, you pace yourself in your ordering as for sure you’re gonna over order like I did! Had to get 4 carry out containers - thank goodness they only charge a quarter each! But no such mercy for the XO sauce - $4.95 for a tiny saucer! Heck, I could get a whole bottle of cheap XO sauce at a grocer!! And that..?is why I cut the one star off their rating. Hmmm… getting picky in my old age!! LOL ?

Solid dim sum place, but they have other menu items, too. Siu mai is plump and they don't skimp on the shrimp. Dim sum selections were fresh, succulent, and just the right temperature.

It was delicious and brought back a lot of memories. This place still does dim sum by the cart, and we really loved that! Really old school way that isn’t seen too much in these times. The food was great and had good flavours and the staff were really attentive and friendly. I will come back time and time again for good dim sum. 10/10 for flavour, taste and friendly staff.

A place that’s highly recommended by the HK crowd. Food was alright, i wouldn’t say it’s the “best” but portions are relatively generous. We had dim sum during dinner so prices were slightly higher as compared to breakfast and we spent about 25/person while breakfast would probably cost about 15-18/person as there are dim sum breakfast discounts. Food quality is good, i loved the lotus leaf wrapped glutenous rice. Ample marinated pork and dried shrimp with some chinese sausages. Siu Mai and Shrimp Dumplings were so-so, i prefer those from Western Lake Seafood. The fried squid was interesting, I’d suggest requesting for vinegar/Worcestershire sauce as a dip instead of the mustard/ketchup mix they give. It helps negate the “oily mouth feel” while giving the fried squid a nice zing. Everything else was good. I’d also suggest asking for chrysanthemum tea instead of the usual black tea they serve as it has a lighter, more refreshing taste. Overall, service was excellent. Staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommended to go with friends and family. More food to share around!

We decided to came to Pink Pearl to try their dim sum as they have 1.3K review in Google. Overall, it is delicious. We love the place, spacious, and they still operate with the cart. We ordered so much just for 2 person. Siu Mai, chicken feet in szechuan sauce, custard bun, egg tarts, squid with curry sauce, rice rolls with beef & parsley, rice rolls with chinese doughnuts, Fried Pork dumpling ( Ham Sui Gok ), Sticky Rice. The staff is really nice too, I just hope they had a chili oil for condiments instead of Sriracha and mustard.

Our family came here for early dim sum on the weekend. By the time it was prime time for lunch, the place was jammed packed of diners (at least a couple hundred) with lots of chaos happening. They need a better system in delivering the food to diners. A couple of items never arrived. With inflation, you don't get what you paid. Pricey ($5.95 for a bowl of jello). There’s a huge selection on their menu but didn’t see much of it served. Tip: 1) if you see the dim sum cart go by, grab the item as you might be waiting awhile 2) check you bill based on what you ordered & what was served & stamped on the tab. 3) make sure you ask for all the takeout containers before you pay. We already paid our bill & needed one more container. The server stuck around making sure we would pay him 50 cents. I felt uncomfortable as the majority of people who were waiting in line inside were unmasked & not even 6 ft apart. If you don't mind crowded places with high prices, this is for you.
