The car itself was awesome. Good condition, clean, and fun to drive. However, some (not all) of the staff have trouble communicating some things with you, and they don't do it in a very friendly manner. 3 stars

I was given a car with many scratches and dents. When I returned it, the guy did a walk around and tried to say there was new damage that "looks fresh". He got an old inspection report and I didn't get stuck with it, but it is clear that they do not fix the damage done to cars they charge people for. Don't let them rent you a car covered in scratches and dings then take on the job of making sure they don't miss one.

Poor and terrible customer service. Got a stone chip on the windshield. They had no one there to assess whether this minor chip was repairable. Further more stone chips are inevitable and shoud be covered by the rental company. I was also told that if I bought their insurance this would have covered, this was never explained to me. Now I wait and I am sure I will get a call saying new windshield.

Worst staff ever, we did the paperwork 2 days ago and we were going to pick the van today. When we went there he told us that we can’t get the van because I’m 24 years old. It was his responsibility to tell us two days ago that we can’t get the van because of him I can’t find another van for my work for tomorrow. He put us in a bad situation. They need to pick their staff much more carefully or give them a longer training. It was my first and last time going there I hope no-one dose the same mistake that I did by going there.

The car we got was super clean, and the guy who helped us was awesome and super helpful. Plus the rental was super cheap compared to other car rental places. This will be our go to car rental from now on. Thank you for making a stressful time for us way less stressful. ☺️ Really appreciate it.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION! If I could give negative stars I would! We booked a 15 person rental van for a group trip from Victoria to Vancouver 5 weeks in advance. 24hrs before we were scheduled to pick up the 15 person van the manager called to notify us that the vehicle was unavailable due to "maintenance". The manager offered us 2 Mini Vans instead and said he would match the original booking price of $400 total ( 2 credit cards @ $200 per card when picking up the 2 vans ). I notified him that since we would now be using two Mini Vans instead of the original 15 person van, I would need to bring a friend to help pick the two vans up and that we would need to pick them up a few hours earlier based on my friend's schedule. We agreed that due to the situation that no additional charges would occur. When we returned the two Mini Vans the customer service agent charged us two extra hours per van. I explained the situation as the manager was not on site, and he refused to help. An argument ensued and I told him I would be disputing the additional charges. TERRIBLE customer service!

Absolutely horrible customer service I received from an employee named June. I will never rent from National again. I needed a car because my car was being serviced at Toyota 200 meters from the national office. There was a communication mix at Toyota i was told they didn’t have a courtesy vehicle for me. I rented a car from National and then Toyota let me know they could supply me a car and I would not need a rental car. So I did sign contract and then was informed I wouldn’t need the car, this was a total of 12 mins after I signed the rental agreement. l had not put a single KM on the car and they told me I signed the contract and they had to charge me for a day. Common sense and customer service was not present in the interaction at all and because of that National will not see my business ever again. He told me I should be happy because I don’t need to rent a car anymore. It was the principal that he could not just void the contract because it was 12 minutes from when I rented the car to the time the situation changed. I have family constantly come to visit in Victoria more than 1 guest a month they all rent cars and will be informed not to rent from national. In this new era of covid and no supply of rental cars people and companies think the customer is lucky that the company found them a car. Customer service leaves an impression and these times will change and the impression the horrible customer service has will last forever. Budget, Hurtz or Enterprise has been great to rent from.

Worst experience with a rental car company. It was all arranged by my car dealership as a part of my warranty on a lease any time it’s in for service. So my walk around was at National but because of my dealership arrangement, it was returned at my service pick up. What a scam! It meant no return walk around- and an unauthorized charge of over $1000 for a small missing piece from the air conditioner. No customer service at all after the drop off- no call backs or responses to my emails. Just the invoice. My recommendation, do not rent from National and if you do, make sure the inspection includes the interior.
