From the early beginnings of pregnancy through to postpartum, my wife and I are super thrilled with the level of care provided by Mountain Midwifery. Educational, supportive, just a phone call away to answer any rising concerns. Personable and professional, the right vibes. Special shout out to our crew... Angela, Georgia, Chantal, Diane + Sunny! Would highly recommend. Looking forward to the next.... if luck will have it, perhaps 2-3 years away....

We absolutely loved our midwives from the moment we met them. We are first time parents and our pregnany was very up and down and pretty rough. Our midwives had our backs from start to finish and were very knowledgeable, helpful and supportive. Once our son was born, they were an even stronger support for him. Diane the receptionist is just as helpful and supportive as the midwives! I highly recommend going with a midwife for your pregnancy. It is a whole new level of support that you will not receive from an OB. The midwives are there at any hour for your support and will answer any and all questions that you have. We are certainly going to miss ours a great deal!

Highly reccomend MMC! I am so grateful for the care I received from the midwives Melissa, Kristi and Sunny. I felt very involved in my care and was given ample information regarding rationale for tests or procedures. I cannot imagine having better support, especially when things were tough during my postpartum period. It was wonderful having home visits for the first 2 weeks. Thank you MMC!

The team at Mountain Midwifery Care is incredible! I planned a hospital birth and was not opposed to having an epidural, which my midwives were fully supportive of. Everyone on the team is exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, making what could be a terrifying experience a phenomenal one! The postnatal care is absolutely invaluable! They come to your house to check on you and your baby, answer any of the million questions you are likely to have and to give some coaching on breastfeeding on day 1,3,5 and 7 after birth! This was my first pregnancy, and I could not imagine doing it without a midwife, and can't understand why anyone would choose not too have one! Highly recommend!!

After having a traumatic birth with my first child, I realized that finding the right care provider was going to be crucial when I got pregnant again. Once I found out I was pregnant, I reached out to all of the midwife clinics in Hamilton. I had a list of questions to ask potential care providers - which I have every right to do. I wanted to find someone who would be supportive and understanding right from the start. That someone was definitely not Mountain Midwifery Clinic. First, I spoke to the receptionist who almost balked at my mentioning that I wanted to ask the potential midwife a few questions first (before scheduling my initial consult). She made me feel extremely anxious and made me almost question my right to interview a potential care provider. She told me that "if I wanted to interview someone, this was not the clinic for me. We have many others waiting for a spot here." (Highly doubtful since I called the day I received my positive pregnancy test!) She ended up saying she would "try" to have Sarah, one of the midwives and apparently an owner of the clinic, give me a "couple minutes of her time." Sarah did call me a couple of days later. I first mentioned to her my experience with the receptionist and how it made me feel. She defended her, saying she "tries to protect the midwives' time." The irony of that is that I, too, am trying to protect EVERYONE'S time (including my own, I am also very busy) by finding the right fit. My questions would take a maximum of 10 minutes, which I had informed the secretary and Sarah. Would they have rather I had booked the initial consult, spent an hour with their midwife, then decide it wasn't a great fit?! Even after explaining how I had a traumatic birth the first time and this was why I was doing this, there was no sympathy. All I got was "well if everyone did this, it would take a lot of our time." I mentioned that I HIGHLY DOUBT many expectant moms take the amount of time that I was to find the right midwife. Sarah had nothing to say to that, and I told her then that this was obviously not the right clinic for me. What a disappointing experience. I was treated like I would be nothing but a number, and that my concerns would not be listened to. Luckily here in Hamilton, there are plenty of other midwife clinics to use. If you want a supportive experience from beginning to end, I suggest you seek another clinic. None of the other ones made me feel like Mountain Midwifery did when I called them for an interview. Some of them actually applauded the fact that I was so intent on finding a great match - after all, it's beneficial for the midwife (and the clinic), too.

I cannot say enough positive things about my time thus far with mountain midwifery! I’ve just had my baby last week and the support and care provided throughout pregnancy up until this point has been beyond exceptional! Diane, at the front desk, is calm and confident and responsive. My midwives are Lauren, Sarah and Elyse. Lauren was kind, non judgemental and easy to get along with from day one. Elyse is a student, believe it or not, and is calming, informative, reassuring and lovely in every way! And Sarah, I can’t say enough. She was with me the few weeks leading up to delivery and was in it with me through the delivery and over this past week. She is amazing In every sense of the word, caring, competent, funny, knowledgeable, compassionate and the list could go on. I look forward to my visits with all of them and also really appreciate that I never feel like I’m hassling them when I reach out. Also have to shoutout to Georgia, Katie and kristi who were all involved with my care over the weekend and weee all amazing. For a team to function as well as they do during a pandemic and to do it so smoothly and efficiently speaks volumes. Thanks to all!!!

I would definitely recommend mountain midwifery care to any expectant mom. My experience with them for my second pregnancy was a lot better than my first pregnancy with an OB. Melissa and Kristi were my midwives and they really took the time to listen to any questions and concerns that I had. I never felt rushed at any of my appointments. I felt supported throughout my entire pregnancy and through postpartum as well. Though they didn’t get to deliver my baby due to working long hours Sunny covered for Melissa and she was amazing through my labour and delivery, helping me through contractions and delivery of my baby girl. I really glad I made the decision to go with a midwife for my second pregnancy and glad I chose mountain midwifery care.
