Our Stores

Winnipeg: The Forks
opened in 2018

The Forks, centrally located in Winnipeg and known as the city's meeting place, has a rich history dating back thousands of years. It is a hub of culture and community, a place known to and regarded warmly by all Winnipeggers, and McNally Robinson is thrilled and excited to be a part of the ongoing story being told there. At The Forks we will feature the best of new literary fiction and non-fiction titles, a selection of local history and interest titles, as well as some of our finest gift items. McNally Robinson for Kids and Babies also has your favourite books for children and teens.

Winnipeg: Grant Park
opened in 1996

A pioneering store in the Canadian book industry, our Grant Park Winnipeg store replaced two smaller McNally Robinson locations. It was Canada’s largest independent bookstore at the time of its opening and, with two subsequent minor expansions to approximately 24,000 square feet, possibly still is. This store introduced features that have been echoed in our subsequent stores, notably a full-service restaurant and a comprehensive children’s bookstore, the latter located on the mezzanine. The store also prototyped our layout using themed alcoves instead of aisles. (Typically, bookstores are laid out with cross-aisles, forming a grid, like Los Angeles. Ours, however, are laid out in a radial plan, like Paris.)

Saskatoon
opened in 1998

Our store on 8th Street is Saskatoon's largest independent bookshop at 23,000 square feet. Like other McNally Robinson stores, Saskatoon fields a continuing schedule of readings, book launches, and other cultural events. The Prairie Ink restaurant and the mezzanine “for Kids” store are both highly popular.

McNally Jackson in New York City
opened in 2004

McNally Robinson New York City On December 3, 2004, McNally Robinson opened a store in lower Manhattan at 52 Prince Street in Nolita, just east of Soho — a neighbourhood of great vitality and home to many writers and artists. At 7,000 square feet on two levels, the New York store, owned and operated by Sarah McNally, daughter of the founders, is one of the largest independent stores in Manhattan and operates perhaps the liveliest events program of any store in the city. The store split off from McNally Robinson Booksellers as its own company and changed its name to McNally Jackson in August 2008.

The only bookstore left in the city to offer all of: books, magazines, CDs, vinyl, DVDs , Blu-rays, 4K Blu-rays, Criterion Blu-rays, knick knacks, home decor/accessories, musical instruments (I bought a ukulele here!), clothing accessories (satchels, scarves, hats, sunglasses, jewelry, etc.), board games, chocolates, baby clothes and toys... and more, I'm probably leaving something out. I've even seen nice headphones for sale. Not to mention the awesome Kid's section on the mezzanine and the adjoining Prairie Ink restaurant which has live music on certain nights. Their Readers Reward Program is excellent (easily pays for itself) and direct access to Grant Park Mall is gravy. LOTS of parking and generous business hours. A+++ customer service, special orders are easily taken care of and queue system ensures short wait times. You can even publish books here! What more can I say, Winnipeg please support local and shop here so we can all enjoy it for many more years to come. It really is one of a kind. Did I mention vinyl...??! ?

Suppose to be open until 6 on Sundays. I made a special trip into the city only to be told they were closing an hour early to do inventory. I was quite annoyed as it was 4:50. No apologies, just …”It was posted on our website!” Who checks websites? Who does this? Highly recommend doing your inventory after hours!

McNally’s has been my favourite book shop in Winnipeg for years. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I love that I can trust them to bring in beautiful and authentic product that supports craftspeople globally. I also love how they support local writers and writing communities. Lastly, I want to thank the staff for their diligence in keeping our community safe. Yesterday I witnessed a customer being rude and belligerent to staff as they were reminded of the mask policy. The staff member remained kind and firm throughout the whole exchange. Retail can be a thankless job so I want to say thank you and I appreciate you.

Bookstore of its own kind! I love how local it is - they sell local books that you won't see else where as well as local products. Good selection of boardgames as well. Located inside the bookstore is Prairie Ink restaurant which is also a very decent restaurant to try out.
