Lakeside Legion Manor

Been here for 1yr 61/2 months. A great place to live!

Later last year we had made plans to move my Grandfather (age 90) to an alternative suite within Lakeside Legion Manor. As time has passed, our concerns with the vunerable population have heightened amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Our family has voiced of our opinion & concerns on moving my Grandfather, which wasn't as issue at first and was then postponed. Since that time we have received phone calls putting pressure on us to move him regardless of the situation. A few days ago we have received an additional phone call from the staff of Lakside Legion Manor saying that we need to move him ASAP. I'm not sure why this has even been entertained, yet alone being pushed, as we have seen ample evidence of the COVID-19 virus seriously affecting the elderly. I'm truly disappointed and concerned regarding the lack of disscern and consideration brought forth for the residents. I understand that lesser restrictions have been imposed, however, this urge for my family to have my Grandfather moved out is potentially brining the virus into the midst of a building full of elderly citizens. With said issues presented, the staff had offered to take our temperature as a sign of precaution to the residents. I appreciate the attempt in precaution, but there's ample evidence showing that the symptoms of the virus may not be present even if infected. The reason the staff had presented for the move was due to another resident moving in. Also, the family we have available to help with the move are all still working every day, which in turn amplifies the chances of exposing anyone within the building if at the wrong place at the wrong time. At the end of the day, us being present within the building with such relaxed restrictions may very well be the a death sentence for anyone within. I would highly encourage anyone to question this decision if their loved one is within this facility as our experience has been nothing less of lackluster.
