The staff at KVEC are amazing. We had to rush our Lou out yesterday and they took him in immediately. They kept me informed every step of the way, even tho they were absolutely slammed with emergencies. They stabilized Lou quickly and did everything they needed to do to find out what was going on. Turned out he has pneumonia. They kept him for the night on IV antibiotics and by morning he was much better and was able to come back home. They made this terrifying experience a lot less stressful for us, and they even let us see him before we left him, even tho he just woke up from sedation, so they could help ease my 9 year olds mind before we made the long trip home with out our sweet boy. They called us early in the morning, and told us he was a lot better and was able to come home with us. Thank you so very much for helping our sweet boy. We will forever be grateful.

We look our very sick dog Cody there on February 17 when our regular vet was unable to see him. He was in severe distress with congestive heart failure. He was seen immediately and life saving treatment was started. Unfortunately, our little guy was so I’ll he did not survive. We are so grateful for the kindness of the staff and the professionalism they showed us during this difficult time. Thank you to all your kindness it was truly appreciated.

Emergency vets (and vets in general) are never cheap. That said, Kawartha is very upfront with their costs and offers options prior to treatment. For a student with two cats that have medical needs, this is very important. We had to get Nelson (feline) bloodwork, for some odd symptoms he displayed. Despite not being an "emergency", we got his blood work done right away, followed by results! The regular vet we were trying to book with could not take us in until another week. Overall, costs would have been relatively equal. The staff is so friendly and caring. I really appreciate the extensive phone calls from the vet, which make sure all the information is understood and questions are clearly answered. Thank you for your wonderful work, especially during the heightened stress of COVID-19! Brothers Nelson and Baxter are thankful too!

KVEC is not local to us but we were referred there by our vet when our senior pup was ill and needed hospitalization. We were welcomed and given all the information necessary to decide whether we could afford to leave her there. Communication with the staff about her progress was good and when another treatment might be needed but would not guarantee she would recover, we were invited to be with her and spend as much time as we needed to make our decision. The kind, caring and gentle staff were amazing.

We went in as an emergency call. All staff was very kind and understanding. We had to put our very loved cat Spanky to sleep but they helped us through all the decisions and never made us feel rushed. I would highly recommend them and I thank them for helping through a very sad time.

I took my dog here 5 months ago with what I thought was an obstruction in his throat. My dog was in there for 3 days. They checked everything but his throat, full body X-ray (not including his throat)as well as blood work. The Vet showed us the X-ray saying β€œI think this is the spleen”, β€œ I think this is the kidney”. Not very competent reading X-rays.We were told my dog had fluid on the heart and cancer. They had my dog on oxygen pretty much for the whole 3 days saying he was panting which means he’s struggling to breathe. They finally checked his throat when I continually told them my concern was his throat as he ate an ember from our wood fireplace they discovered he had β€œtumors in his throat” I said can’t it be burnt from the ember and they said no. I trusted them that their diagnoses was correct. We were going into put my dog down on the third day. Thank goodness we decided against it. He saw me and was so happy, yes he was panting still but my dog has never been separated from me in his 12 years and he has separation anxiety and pants. As soon as we left with him he stopped panting. His throat healed up and his new vet said he is perfectly fine. I almost put my perfectly fine dog down. Spent $4,200 on him for a wrong diagnosis. Go with your instincts when it comes to your animal. Thank goodness we did.

Although I had a very short experience at the clinic, the staff's empathy did not go unnoticed. It was very apparent that Dr. Prior and her staff were very knowledgable and well equipped. I will be recommending their services to everyone! Thank you for the card, an extremely beautiful and thoughtful touch.

The vets, techs and receptionists were all exceptionally helpful and supportive. I had to leave my dog overnight for treatment and they were communicative, transparent and really patient. They were upfront with the potential and actual costs of the treatment and there were no surprises. They did not try to oversell care. I was really impressed by everyone with whom I had contact and felt confident that my dog was getting the best possible care. He is thankfully fine now but I would not hesitate going back there again if needed.
