I lost my dog tonight. I'm crushed and there was probably no way to save him, but the way the vet treated myself and Monty was abhorrent and made this whole thing so much more traumatic. When my girl dog passed, Pembina Vet was so incredibly kind and patient and accommodating. This was the exact opposite. It was the worst experience of my life.

My dog recently starting seeing Dr. Eissa for cancer treatment. He is very thorough, patient and answers all of my questions. Prices are very fair! We are so grateful for Dr. Eissa and his staff. I highly recommend them!

Our cat Beans ate something he shouldn't have and wasn't interested in eating his breakfast the following day. We knew something was wrong but our regular vet was fully booked. Kenaston Vet was able to get us in that same day to have Beans assessed. They kept him for observation and tests and as it turned out he had three intestinal blockages that needed to be surgically removed. Drs. Eissa and Hussein performed the surgery late in the afternoon on a Saturday and kept us informed well into that evening and throughout the weekend about how the surgery went, how our boy was doing, etc. The doctors and staff are so kind, professional, skilled, and considerate. It is obvious that they care a lot about their furry patients. It's always worrying when your pet is sick, especially when they can't be seen by their regular vet. The staff at Kenaston Vet put me quickly at ease and I knew Beans was in great hands. He has been home for a few days now and I am happy to report that he is recovering very well. I would happily recommend Kenaston Vet to anyone looking for top quality compassionate vet care.

Kenaston Vet is my place to go, whenever my yorkie needs medical help or anything. The staff and doctor here are very calm, friendly and knowledgeable. I know my dog is well taken care of here.

In many years of rabbit ownership across Canada, this is the best clinic I've attended. They knew how to gently handle my bunny, even though he has a spicy ginger personality. They started with the most low key approach, and risked being bitten just to ease his anxiety. I appreciate Dr. Essa is treating his ear infection from all directions: painkiller, oral and topical antibiotics. This vet genuinely loves rabbits, it was easy to tell. They were very flexible about fitting us in on an emergency basis. I was very upset to see my bunny falling over and appearing to have seizures, and they were so kind about seeing him immediately. They alleviated what must surely be one of the most distressing aspects of an exam, the rectal thermometer, by using an ear thermometer. I am disabled, and they assisted me with lifting and carrying. There is disability parking out front, tho' you do have to cross the mall driveway. I want to mention this gem: Dr. Hussein was a resident vet at UC Davis' teaching hospital, one of the top veterinary programs in North America. They are the gold standard for rabbit and horse knowledge. I rely on their research when rehabbing starved and abused horses and bunnies. Reasonable prices for Exotics care, as well. For new rabbit owners: please make sure to choose a vet with Exotics expertise, as it requires extra training beyond dogs and cats. Rabbits require different handling and medications. More info on the House Rabbit Society website.

Extremely money hungry COLD mannered vet overcharging and milking services. Everything said on their web page couldn’t be more opposite. Extremely expensive for procedures if you get a quote price it will be be 50% more than quoted, no answers to why?! The vet completely ignores me and has decency to ask the front desk even i left not to have to answer any important post op questions in person. I was sent home without ANY post op documentation and when I called because my pet was having an adverse reaction i was told not to call again, and go to another vet?! I called 3x because I was dismissed and hung up on β€œaccidentally” 2x. What?? I have paid $600 for little tumour removal for my pet (fancy rat) they wanted to squeeze in extra chargers or postoperative questions. I did end up going to get staples removed bc they said vet would do it in a room (another lie) I guess the vet was still in hiding bc even his staff could make up where the price came from (I was told the max cost for extra time over 25 min etc it would be $400 minimum cost around $300, it took 20 minutes to get in and out of the operation room by that time not just the time they started to close up with staples that looked like a butcher did it, to save them time. She was in the box ready to go home fully awake cleaning all the blood and massive amount of the iodine all over my pets fur. I’ll never know where the cost came from bc they completely avoided us like plague once they received their $600. I really after such treatment just wanted to be out of there and never see another vet again. They literally charged me for a large breed dog not a β€œpocket pet” they didn’t go over 20min to operate some go over 45min, no use of β€œextra”oxygen, no complications during the lump removal. I strongly do not suggest this place especially for exotics, this do see them but they really are not that experienced with them and they clearly couldn’t show more by being so dismissive amongst other things that they really do not care for very small animals. Save yourself money in the long run and go to a vet that can sit with you answer any questions you may have prior and after the procedure, I never even got to see the vet. Also they said they call day after to see how your pet it doing , no one cared to call to see if my pet was even alive . Honestly cold as it gets and they enjoy talking back to you without knowing absolutely any of the facts. Never again after this my other pet need a vet and the one developed respiratory distress post surgery and I can’t bring myself to go see another vet it was that bad. I’ma nurse so I have treated the one with respiratory issues via antibiotics thankfully without seeing a vet. This is what people have to go through with their β€œexotic” pets when vets are to greedy and rude af and show no compassion to you OR your pet, people never want to come back

My 9 year old cat Butter got a teeth cleaning and extractions at Kenaston Veterinary Hospital recently. Right off the bat from the initial first visit, Dr. Hussein was very helpful and seemed to genuinely care about the well being of my cat. She was very thorough with answering all of my questions. Eventually I proceeded to book the cleaning and extractions appointment for my cat. They went through all the necessary steps to make sure that my cat would be okay. They did x-rays, bloodwork, etc. During my cat's recovery, the staff were really helpful in answering my concerns through the phone and e-mail. The vet assistant Kylie has been very accommodating and kind. My cat is now fully recovered. He is eating more, gained a bit more weight and overall I'm just glad to know he is healthy. Thank you Dr. Hussein and Dr. Eissa for your work. I am glad to have finally found a reliable veterinary hospital. We also started bringing our new kitten Noodle for vaccinations and would be getting neutered in the next month! Overall, the experience with this place has been really good.

I recently started coming to Kenaston Vet since it's closer to my new home. I've dealt with both Dr. Eissa and Dr. Hussein - they're lovely people. I really appreciate how this office is family owned and local as other corporate vets tend to upsell and overcharge. I've brought my dog, Molly and my cat Riceball here and they're treated like family. Riceball is on medication for his chronic kidney disease and Molly was recently rescued so she got spayed, dental work, and a lump removed on her leg. The vets here gave accurate estimates, showing both the low and high end of what the procedures may cost. They never pushed services and always gave me the option, which is appreciated. I previously went to another vet who always forced me to get expensive procedures. I would recommend this place for anyone with pets! They also do exotic and small animal services (gerbils, guinea pigs, snakes, ferrets, etc). The receptionists and assistants are all amazing too - they always greet Molly and make her feel as comfortable as possible (she has abandonment issues and separation anxiety from previous owners). The assistant, Veronica is always thorough when explaining aftercare instructions and they answer all my questions.
