Great Hong Kong barbecue place. The 'pi pa ya' (roasted duck) and cha siu king are good but required reservation. The daily soup is not disappointing. The vegetables are simple. Additional things to try: hot pan fried tofu and eggplant pot. The only mediocre dish is the 'salty duck egg deep fried shrimp', since the shrimp is not fried very well. They serve really fast and the price is cheap (10-25/dish). Authentic hong kong style food. Busy during dinner time.

Taste: 5 Service: 5 Ambience: 4 Value: 5 Overall: 4.8 Hi and welcome to another episode of javing it with Javier. Let's see what we are javing today. This past Saturday after enjoying a fun filled board games night, we decided to check out John's Chinese BBQ because one of my coworkers was hyping it up so much. We ordered the BBQ pork, the eggplant with ribs, rice vermicelli with mixed vegetables, and the pork belly. Starting off with the BBQ pork; it was lightly crisped with a soft honey taste to it. It was so utterly addicting that I had to make sure to save some for my coworkers. This one was easily my favourite dish of the night. Moving onto the eggplant with ribs, the flavour of the eggplant was refreshing and the ribs had a chewy texture to them. The vermicelli was alright. I didn't have many opinions on them. And finally the pork belly. This dish was also extremely delicious although being told that this dish was a bit underrated by my coworker. It had a strong taste to it so it's best eaten with rice. The quality of the pork belly is one of the better ones I've had. I see a lot of online reviews saying the service here was sub par. In my opinion it was great, the waiters actually paid attention to us...at a Chinese restaurant. Or maybe it was the fact that I realized halfway through my meal that one of my coworkers was the son of the restaurant owner lol but I hope it wasn't because of that. In terms of the atmosphere, it was what a typical Chinese restaurant would be like. There were some decorations in the front though. Finally after trying out so many good dishes the price came out to ~$20. That is an absolute steal and I would come here again. In conclusion, I still daydream about that BBQ pork and I can't wait to enjoy a night out with my coworkers soon. And that's it for today's episode of javing it with Javier. And remember food is life!

A restaurant located in a plaza along Highway 7, we came here on a Thursday night for their BBQ. Their signature dish is the “King of BBQ Pork” dish and it really is as delicious as it looks and smells! Order early as they make them on demand, so it may take 15 to 20 minutes depending on how busy the restaurant is. It is pricey at 30$ though. We also got the Chinese Crispy Pork Belly and that was amazing as well. I would say their BBQ is what they are known for. The other dishes we got were okay or below average, so don’t order too much. We got friendly service here, unlike other reviews, so maybe it depends who you get.

Food was really good. The sizzling black pepper steak was especially good. Prices were okay. Great for family dinners. Service needs improvement though and they only accept cash. I disliked how some of their menus were completely written in Chinese with no English... and they did not have other types of teas to choose from.

The BBQ is really tasty and soft. It's one of the best I've ever had. It's a little on the sweet side so if you don't like it that way then this might not be for you. I think the chef puts a lot attention in the dishes. Everything was pretty good. It's just tad on the pricier side but well worth for those BBQ pork cravings.

Chinese restaurants are NOT known for good service. They're known for good and affordable food but customer service is a foreign concept to staff working at most Chinese restaurants. This one is no exception. The food is good, but staff are not trained in customer service whatsoever.

Their Chinese BBQ made in-house such as duck and Cha Siu (BBQ pork) are quite flavourful. All the other food is ok. Prices are reasonable and service is fast. Good for family dinners.

Definitely go for dine-in if you have the ability. The quality just isn’t the same for takeout. This place has been a go to for years and has some of the best Chinese bbq in Richmond hill.
