We had to cancel 3 days after booking 2 cottages (booked more than 3 months in advance) and they charged an "admin fee" of $100 per cottage - which was ridiculously high!! I dont know how good the place is but the cancellation fee/policy is way too high for me to consider booking with them again.

Beautiful, beautiful spot for our first trip to Manitoulin and one we look forward to returning to. Cottages are clean and have everything a cottage should have: extra blankets, dishes etc and cooking supplies in good condition, kayaks we happily borrowed and paddled around in, fire pit, picnic tables and a porch overlooking the lake and gorgeous sunsets and stargazing. Outstanding attention and quick responses from the friendly owner when there was an island-wide power outage. Close to cosy, fabulous restaurants in Mindemoya, and the Ojibwe Cultural Centre and Cup and Saucer trail in M’Chigeeng. Loved every second!

My wife and I with two of our Grandchildren arrived as first time renters; We were placed in a cute little newer cabin. Before we could unpack a 3 bedroom became available;and as our headcount had increased by 1 adult we jumped at the chance, We moved to one of the older cabins just down the road. We were pleased to find a nice well appointed cabin just like the ones I remember as a kid in Alberta. The next day our Daughter arrived with her three girls and the frollicking ensued. After a few days the kids had the run of the area and used the kayaks and the canoe and chased crawfish around the docks at night by flashlight. The fire ban was lifted for two days allowing us to have a fire and roast a few mallows. All in all we had a fun and relaxing stay at Island Springs Cottages and the beautiful Manitoulin Island and hope they will welcome us back

Back again, been staying here for 7 yrs now...newer cottages, great location, clean, safe, highly recommend it. As for the people who are complaining about cancellation fees, understand that the rental season is very short, and this is the owners livelihood, if it doesnt rebook she is out of pocket, as she turns ppl away based on your booking, in a place like Toronto a booming metropolis where there are thousands of ppl to rent, and the employees dont rely on your booking to pay the mortgage or put food on their table, sure cancel away, but when you count on a booking to make ends meet, and then it gets canceled then to be honest anything less then a month should be the full rental cost, easily, owner needs to survive in this very niche market, two cottages stand empty beside me today due to cancellations, that is revenue lost to the owner who could have booked with someone else, so the $100 is a joke really, a cancellation costs hundreds if not a thousand to the owner in lost income, ppl think about it, it's simple, look at it from the perspective of a small town business owner in a very tight niche market. a loyal but honest and frank regular renter!

It was a beautiful and quaint cottage. Spotless and very well kept. The owners were so kind and very accommodating. Not pet friendly so we couldn't bring our fur baby. They offer kayaks and a canoe to the guests free of charge which is great, they have life jackets too. The only downfall is that there isn't individual fire pits for each cottage and the guests are supposed to share one fire pit which we found unappealing. It's hard to have a nice relaxing fire with your spouse or your own family when there is large family gatherings around the fire pit, so it makes it impossible for you to have a turn using it. The highlight of our vacationing anywhere is always having a nice fire at night so that was our only complaint. In this time with a pandemic happening we didn't feel safe sharing a common area with other guests. We would definitely go back here for the great location on Lake Mindamoya and for the lovely cabin. If they put in individual fire pits for each cabin the experience would be 5/5 for us personally. I'll mention again that Tammy and Darryl were the absolute best hosts we've ever had on any of our vacations yet. You can tell they really love what they're doing and they care about the experience they provide for their guests. It was a wonderful place! :)
