This is my second time at Hutch Cafe. The first time the restaurant was busy, but we waited over 45 mins for food for two of us. We figured we’d give it another shot since it was busy the first time we went and perhaps they were working out some kinks. We went on a late Sunday afternoon for our second time about 2 months later. This time there were three of us but the restaurant was not busy. There were still a few open tables (the restaurant has maybe 8-9 tables). This time we waited over an hour for our food. Not once did the servers come check in and apologize or give us an update on why our food was taking so long. It was as if they were just used to the wait being that long which is not acceptable. All three of us also only got dishes that pretty much required cooking eggs or bacon, so nothing that should take that long. I will not be coming back. I will say both times I’ve been that the food has been good. Though it’s a tad overpriced for the portions they give. The decor is beautiful.

Stopped by while enjoying a mild day walking by the river. Welcomed by Jess Lee, whose service thereafter and all through was attentive, friendly and hospitable. Their French Press coffee was stronger than expected, nothing like a spot of milk to temper it some. Their English Breakfast tea was served in just the right pot size, with the perfect teacup and saucer, and with milk and sugar on the side (all without asking). Their Steak BLT Sandwich was pretty good and paired with the soup-of-the-day (broccoli). Their Chickpea & Avocado Sandwich was okay and paired with the fries (which were crisp, thin, and just the right bite size). We would love to see them introduce a couple more gluten-free vegan options; perhaps even make them their specialty. We will be back for another meal. If one has not given them a try as yet - one should.

Absolutely delicious food. Great for brunch and then walk along riverfront after. My only complaint was the servers seemed a bit annoyed. Not sure why…there were only four parties in the there. Oh well I would still go back for a quick and quality brunch!

Lovely cafe serving the finest quality dishes I’ve enjoyed in a long time - one example is a Lobster Benedict in a dark brioche bun with superb homemade hollandaise sauce. The careful attention to detail is much appreciated and the fresh ingredients in each dish is apparent. I hesitate to reveal this wonderful establishment publicly as my selfish side would like to keep this place to myself, but I would like them to stay in business and continue to visit them, and so I am sharing this gem of a cafe with you all. Please do stop by and support them.

Beautiful, quaint restaurant in the heart of downtown! The place is very modern and homey looking. Very pretty inside. The coffee is delicious too. I had the smashed pea and avocado sandwich with broccoli cheddar soup. The soup was not as hot as I expected it to be but the flavour was there so not a huge deal. The bread on the sandwich was the best part, you can tell it's made in house. I was pleasantly surprised with the garlic flavor in the avocado spread. I find a lot of places don't use enough - this did not disappoint. The server was attentive and friendly.

Absolutely love this cafe. Just in town for work and needed a quiet cozy place to work for a few hours. My Croque Madame was delicious and their tea is nice and heart warming. Very friendly staff made me feel welcome. I’d highly recommend this place.

Came for brunch a few weekends ago and was disappointed by the overall experience. Our server did not check on us after getting our order, another staff member was the one to drop off our meal. The portions in the meal were small, I was shocked by how many potatoes I had - it came with less than 3 baby potatoes total. The food itself was tasty but nothing special for the price and size. We were never asked if we wanted more coffee or water and the only time the server came was to give us the bill.

We were looking for a place to have a brunch and found this cafe in our way toward the peace bridge. What a surprise, the ambient, the staff, the food was delicious. It is going to be a second visit pretty soon. It is cute that they have kitchen pots and pans.
