About Half Moon Drive In

Since it first opened in 1938, the Half Moon Drive In has become a

famous Manitoba destination. A family drive along the Red River for a deluxe dog has been a long standing family tradition.

The spring of 1983 saw the old Half Moon close its doors, and a larger, more modern restaurant open its doors closer to the historic St. Andrews Lock and Dam. Since that time, the Half Moon has taken great care in maintaining the high standards that were developed from the original site.

In addition to our famous hot dogs, the Half Moon serves up mouth-watering burgers, ice cold Pepsi, tasty home made fries and the greatest ice cream treats and sweets.

Our menu, along with a unique retro dining atmosphere are combined to create a perfect family destination.

With our growth and popularity among our customers throughout Canada, the Half Moon is proud to be serving up great food and good times and has been quoted as having CANADA'S BEST HOT DOGS.

What was different about this place was the access to the Red River. A nice little walk to the banks of the river after your meal, not a lot of places let you do that. Overall, a good experience.

We always order curly fries, onion rings, the works, lunar burger and of course for my youngest kids cheeseburger combo with homemade fries which even comes in a carboard car. Then, we order the ice cream for last and best part which is always such a treat. And now that things are opening up again, it is so nice to park and eat inside or in the back and eat by the patio tables.

COVID protocols followed. Deluxe dog is a classic. Added onion rings today. They could have used a bit more deep fryer time. Under done, soft and not crisp. Was disappointed in the rings and the reason for only four stars today. Other times they have been great. The Saturn hamburger and deluxe dog were excellent though and would rate them a five. Was a very quiet day there. The Half Moon has been one of our go to stops to ride out to from Winnipeg for a burger or dog... And ice cream...., for many, many years.

R	Ricki Dee on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a beautiful place to have lunch. There is so much memorabilia to enjoy, games for children to play and it's an atmosphere that takes you to the past. The only thing I didn't enjoy this time was my cheese dog. There was so much cheese on it but it wasn't melted, it was just a pile of shredded cheese. Otherwise I always love going to the Half Moon. It's a nice drive out Henderson highway. The restsurant is always clean and The servers are very friendly. Thank you for that!

Their diner style food is delicious, and they even have Beyond Meat options on the menu! I suggest taking the scenic drive down River Road on your way out if coming from Winnipeg.
