About Hakim Optical Market Mall

Hakim Optical began 50 years ago, when Sir Hakimi was grinding lenses for the Canadian wholesale market. He learned his craft as a youth in his native Iran and honed it in subsequent years, grinding lenses in Germany and camera lenses in Switzerland. Attracted by the excitement of retail opportunities, Sir Hakimi began to pass the great deals he gave wholesalers on to the public. Today, Hakim Optical serves the people of Canada with 161 outlets (including 140 one hour factory outlets) across Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

This location was recommended by a friend and didn't disappoint! Dr. Gordon is amazing! And special thanks to Tina, the eye care specialist who helped me choose, and later measured for, my new frames. They have such a great selection of frames - first time ever I've looked forward to getting new glasses!

This is the first totally negative review I have left. I don't care how much cheaper they are at Hakim, I will never go back. I'd rather put more charges on my credit card than deal with someone who is so abusive to her customers and refuses to apologize for an error that affected my vision. I had to replace my previous pair of prescription sunglasses after someone smashed my car window and stole them :( The 1st person who helped me was nice, but she was new and mistakenly entered the same numbers for both eyes when putting my sunglasses order in their system - I got another eyewear company in the mall company to double check the lenses because one eye was really blurry. When I went in to get it fixed, the manager became defensive and didn't apologize even though she supposedly double checked everything before they put the order through. I returned to pick up the corrected pair and she got very irritated with me when I had problems with how they fit even though they fit PERFECTLY the first time I picked them up. When I calmly asked her to please stop speaking so sharply to me she walked away from me and went into her office. While the optometrist was trying to adjust the glasses, she came back out and started speaking on the phone so loudly it seemed (to me) that she was doing it to purposefully disrupt my time with the optometrist. When I left, the glasses still didn't fit perfectly but I didn't feel like being there any more. The optometrist made every effort to fix things but that woman was so awful I had to leave. Even on sale, the sunglasses were over $400. They work now, but I feel like garbage when I wear them.

I've had nothing but positive experiences at Hakim thanks to the very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Beau's customer service is especially on another level! Despite my indecisiveness, he patiently answered all of my questions and was very personable as well. I was able to purchase the perfect pair of sunglasses at a great price and I'll most definitely shop there again!

I am surprised by some of the negative reviews on here. The deaf or hard of hearing woman that served me (Tina) was nice and helpful and very knowledgeable. (Though she does well with this disability) She is straight up honest and I admire that. She's not out to "get your money"and will work with your budget and takes the time to explain the differences in the lens options and how to use your progressives effectively. She does speak louder and a bit different (she is disable after all) but very helpful. I am very happy with the glasses, the service and her guidance. I now understand so much more about my glasses and it really made a difference. I used to HATE wearing glasses but not anymore now that I understand my lenses better. I've had them now for three months and I have had her adjust them a couple time perfectly and always a happy to help me. Thank you Tina, I highly recommend you and I will be back!!

After not being allowed inside Iris for not having an appointment or having a mask I decided to stop at Hakim. The most polite and pleasant lady helped me and my daughter pick glasses. No judgment at all. Considering a few days prior another optical place told my 10 year old daughter that big glasses would look ugly on her. Who does that to a 10 year old ? Anyways, the lady, Emuogho was kind and great with my daughter. Thanks for being so kind. Great customer service. Great price as well. I would pay to shop there even if the price was higher than the competition. Quality over quantity. Thanks Hakim Market Mall. See you in a few weeks to pick up my daughter's glasses.

I found service here slow, be prepared to wait a bit. That said, staff were friendly and helpful and gave me a good price on my glasses so the wait was worth it. This is a smaller store so they also have a more limited variety of glasses opposed the larger ones.

This review is for the Hakim storefront, not about Dr. Singh: After calling to make an appointement for my family and taking down my information, we showed up to learn that the sales associate never booked our appointment in. We were lucky to get an appointment booked 40 minutes later, but it was very annoying and upsetting that this occurred. While I was there, another customer also showed up for a phoned-in appointment that the sales associate never recorded in their system. What did their sales associate do with all the information she took down from my family (names, phones, and dates of birth)? Their appointment booking process needs to be looked in to and fixed.

January 29, 2022, I dropped off a pair of prescription sunglasses to have new lens put in. I did not hear from Hakim about the status of the order until the first week of April 2022. I called several times and finally someone called and informed the glasses had been shipped to a lab that had closed and then was reshipped to the same lab. Confused? So was I. I left a message with a Hakim representative to forward my concerns to the District/Area Manager (DM). The representative informed, the DM told her I should email her my concern. It would have been great if the DM had called me to problem solve as requested. Fast forward to today (April 11, 2022), I was informed the glasses were ready for pickup. Upon opening the case, one of the lenses fell out as it was not the correct fit. Also, to my surprise the frame fit too loosely and I thought, did they return the correct frame? By the markings I could tell it was my frame and determined they had stretched the frame. This entire experience was very disappointing. I would most definitely NOT recommend this business. They remedied the situation by refunding the money. Save yourself the agony and do business elsewhere.
