About Golden Acre Home & Garden
Launched originally as a small nursery in 1967, the company has grown to be one of the largest Home & Garden stores in Canada. Golden Acre has been inspiring generations of gardeners by being a true gardener’s mecca. The garden centre carries over 40,000 various plants and gardening products and offers a variety of professional services.
Owners Nick and Alfredo met as newborns. Their parents had immigrated from Europe and lived just a few doors down from each other. Born just a few months apart, the boys mothers helped raise each other’s family together. Hard work, respect and integrity were instilled at a young age. Nick and Alfredo have always expressed their gratefulness to have grown up in such loving families. Eventually, as fate would have it, they teamed up as entrepreneurs and eventually bought Golden Acre from the company founder, Wade Hartwell.
Today they have assembled a team of industry experts to provide the knowledge and experience that Calgarians have come to expect from this award-winning garden centre. The company’s mission is to welcome, provide knowledge and inspire others. All employees strive to go above and beyond customers’ expectations to ensure a memorable experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I'm not sure, but it might be the largest garden centre in Calgary. It features a good selection of trees, outdoor and indoor plants, as well as all the tools and supplies that go with them. The staff is much more knowledgeable than in big box stores. The large parking lot can get clogged on weekends during planting season so try to go on weekdays if possible. There's a 15% discount for seniors so it's a good excuse to take Granny along.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I always go here to get annuals I can't find at big box stores temporary garden centre. There is such a varied selection of bedding and indoor plants. They have various kinds of indoor potting soil I need. I could spend hours here looking at all the paraphernalia for home and garden, such a wonderful place to hang out and bring my dog. Staff are very helpful and pleasant.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good variety of plants in a huge area. Outdoor garden as well as indoor plants of all varieties. Be prepared to walk a lot to see everything. Great selection of water features.
Great place to visit for knowledge of plants, fertilizers, etc and they even hold classes pertaining to plants and gardening.
Definitely worth the visit. Plan on spending a good few hours here. ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I wanted to purchase some plants specifically for a sunny location in my home. The gardener who assisted me was very helpful and pleasant. She provided me with recommendations based on my needs as well as care tips for each. The cashiers were also accommodating and pleasant. The store had a great selection of Christmas ornaments and indoor plants. Prices were reasonable and plants all.looked healthy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On May 29, 2022 at 3:35 pm, the sales rep #1069, till 01-03, was taking out the plants from the store’s tray that I used to scan the price but was putting them back roughly. I saw the plant broke and told her to be careful. She totally ignored me and kept on going. When she was done scanning she picked the broken part, looked at it and dropped it. She never apologized and never smiled. She looked miserable.
I bought 4 pots of sundrops and other items which cost me $137.22. The first photo is the size of the plants that I bought and the second photo is the damaged one. Also, should she not scan one pot of the same kind four times instead of scanning each pot?
I really like your store ang go there yearly but I hope you hire people who are passionate and respectful.
