We walked in the first and last time to this ridiculous store and their pathetic service! They are advertising their memory foam mattress but they made us pay $20 deposit to hold a mattress; this was all fine until they refused to give me back my deposit & offered me to buy two pillows instead because I misplaced the receipt. I didn’t think it was a big deal because I was driving by their store & remembered that they have my deposit & they called me several times to follow up. First of all, I decided not to purchase anything from them because they tried to pressure us with their sales tricks. Second of all, I was frustrated that they refused to give me back my deposit so i cursed and I was totally shocked when he caused back at me. Long story short, this is a dishonest store that you to avoid.

They really aren't very honest. They sold me a couch telling me that its 0% financing....Then later you realize that there a administration fee of $150...Even later you find out that they charge an additional $25 per year on the loan. I calculated the actual interest rate, and it is 10.5%. Which is very misleading. When a place lies to you about stuff like this, its very hard to trust what they say about anything else. the guy that helped me was very nice, so I am giving it a two star, I don't know if deep down he knew this or not ..but management definitely knows and they fact that they hide and mislead customers is just appalling to me.

The staff and the manager are the best in town. They will help you out with all your needs in utmost courtesy. Prices of all items are lot cheaper compared to other furniture store. Furniture are of high quality. Staff are so friendly and helpful.

Justin's 18 years of sales (as he mentioned when I thanked him for being pleasant to shop with) really shines through. He was never pushy, fully listening to what we wanted and knew how to deal with a customer who knows how to say NO haha Thank you Justin for making our bed shopping experience enjoyable and without regrets. We love our bed Happy with my bed thanks to the space Justin gave me to think about it and come to a decision on my own.

Not much selection for leather couches, I had a choice of 2. The sales people are pushy, they push you to put a deposit down and weren't helpful with giving information about the different couches. It didn't seem like they cared about making sure I got a couch that I'd be happy with. They seem quite unorganized, they told me the couch I picked wasn't in stock, there was a waiting list for it and it wouldn't be there for 30 to 60 days. Not even a week later they call and tell me they had 1 in the warehouse and need me to come pay for it if I want it. I told them I'd be in that Saturday. They then called me first thing Saturday morning again telling me I needed to come pay for the couch, I did go in Saturday and paid the balance, scheduled delivery for the next day. They then called me Sunday morning and said I'd put a deposit down on a couch and needed me to come pay for it as they did have 1 on stock. I said I know there was one there, I paid for it yesterday and scheduled delivery for today. Then they said oh well this is the call to give you the time frame for delivery then. They just didn't seem to know what they were doing. The manager was helpful when my delivery went to hell. I would not ever recommend using their delivery people, it is a separate company that is absolutely horrible. One star is for the decent price on the couch and the 2nd star is because the manager helped with the delivery mess. In the future, I likely won't return to this store.

I have NOT had a great experience with the CALGARY NORTH store. When we bought our couch and love seat set. One of the seats to the love seat was broken on the inside. Something we wanted to get fixed. We had MANY Calls and emails to the store management whom finally said he will have a third party company come out and look to have it repaired. At this point months have past. Told 6- 12 weeks. Fast track to having this guy come, told us we needed a couple pairs to fix the one recliner chair on the love seat. Yet again told 6-8 weeks for the parts to come in........LIES..... 3 MONTHS NOW. We call this so called third company to check into what is going on... They don’t know. Contact SURPLUS AGAIN..... Called again to talk to management. Left another message and surprise surprise !!! No call back. WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT HERE AGAIN after spending way too much !!!!!!!!!! NOT RECOMMENDED. PEROID ! All i wanted was my couch fixed in a timely manner.

Went in today to look at furniture. Very welcoming when you walk in door. Dealt with salesman named Jeff. Stock limited which is fine. Yet he and his associates where extremely aggressive on making a deposit to hold furniture. I have worked in retail (upper management) for 15 years and this type of β€œforce” sales is extremely unethical. During this experience Jeff kept yelling to a β€œMike” to get his attention. I believe it was to try and force the sale. I was told that there is a list and it’s best to make a deposit to stay ahead of other customers. Nice advice, yet we were given 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason. LISTEN!! I repeatedly said there was no rush and that I didn’t want to make a deposit. Yet Jeff was still at the counter doing up paperwork. That alone should indicate how unethical and forceful their sales techniques are. Who ever is mentoring this staff needs training. No need to respond. If this company truly wanted customer service at a high standard this would of changed a long time ago.

We went to MANY different stores over the weekend looking at couches. Big chain stores, small warehouse stores, etc. When we walked into Surplus furniture the staff was very welcoming, informative but not stalking you around the room. We checked out a lot of their couches and liked more than one. The prices were amazing but also not too low that you questioned why. We settled on a sectional and they actually had it in stock so we were able to take if home that day. As long as the couch holds up we will be back for future furniture needs.
