★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fraser Fibreglass is a quality boat repair business in Vancouver. Phil and his crew know their stuff. We have had them complete two major refits on two different sailboats. In 2001/2002 they helped us prepare our Shearwater 39 for a 2 year offshore trip and In 2018 they did a complete refit and upgrade on our 1987 Mason 33 which we sailed to Alaska. So they have been around for a long time. There may be cheaper boat repair shops around Vancouver, but if you work with Fraser Fibreglass , the work will be reliable you will save money in the long run

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My boat hit a rock & we assigned Fraser Fiberglass the contract to make repairs. Here is a summary of the issues that happened after the repairs were completed
1. No vacuuming of the fibreglass dust debris (from their repair work) led to two clogged bilge pumps & a mess of dust & congealed waste in our bilge.
2. Not testing the hot water system failed to identify a) a major water leak b) that the hot water tank was not working, due to an incorrect electrical hookup made by them and c) a damaged/ leaking Paloma water heater.
3. Removing the fuse for the refrigeration electrical panel clearly indicates that they never tested the refrigeration system after reassembly.
4. Not plugging in our batteries while at their shop drained our backup Efoy charging system (which provides about 6 days of power generation when our batteries run dangerously low) & which hopefully have NOT destroyed our batteries.
5. Leaving our sails exposed on the boat deck without any covers or protection , whereas they could have been easily stored inside the boat.
6. After promising to mitigate any unresolved issues after boat launch, they only went part way. I can probably understand why they don’t stand behind their work, as the problems they let out of their shop are too numerous to deal with afterward. Clearly a lack of attention to planning & to detail.

Phil supervised the work closely and gave me ongoing advice on other aspects of boat maintenance for the work I was doing myself. The keel looked great when finished and included all the required steps in preparation and finishing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I don't want to make Phil feel old, but I am the third generation of boater in my family to use Fraser Fiberglass. He has done repairs to my grandfather's boat, my father's, and now mine. When working below the waterline you don't want to wonder about the quality of repair, Phil doesn't give you the choice he says "this is the way to do it". He removed four unused thru hull fittings and three transducers. I know where they were, but it is almost impossible to distinguish the repair from the factory molded fiberglass - he is a craftsman.
