Food Basics

I usually go there for advertised specials, or for apples if Freshco nearby doesn't have the sweet apples that I like. They can be expensive for their no name products, but I always comparison shop, so they don't get my business if they're not cheaper.

This was by far the worst experience I’ve had grocery shopping in years.. Understandable that it’s the Holiday season and patience is needed in customer service & I totally get that as somebody who’s worked in the industry for years. However this experience matches the title of this store completely. Basic and utterly useless overall… It would be nice if you could use self checkout and actually be able to scan in all of your items.. Even better if the attendant working actually knew how to operate your self scanning machines to do voided line items & price adjustments for items that have discounts… This took her literally 10 minutes of going back and fourth to ask somebody else 3 times & us standing around with our newborn baby for an even longer grocery shopping experience than anticipated. Finally the attendant instructed us to go to Cashier #2 which than also had a very long line so this caused us to have to wait even longer.. Great that the attendant saw us getting frustrated & rightfully so as we anticipated a swift checkout experience with our newborn. It was cool that she decided to call us over to Cashier #4 now after making us wait even longer. Funny enough the item that was giving them such a headache to figure out was honestly a basic enough mathematical equation to figure out on your own.. Also, we literally had to remind the cashier that she left our items with the other cashier before pulling us out of that line.. Thanks for also making us have to pull everything out of the bags & re-bag it again wasting even more time.. Honestly I will NOT be shopping here again due to the lack of basic training these employees are clearly receiving at this location. I get that this is a brand new store & but this honest poor review should come to you as a wake up call.

Nice brand new store. Checkout layout is kind of odd. Exit pathways could be directed better at the self checkout stations. Should have put the end of the barriers by the exit door.

Have not been a huge Food Basics fan in the past, but this store has changed my perspective. The store was clean, beautifully stocked and staff were pleasant. I find the layout a bit odd but overall happy returning to this location in the future.

Very nice store. Brand spanking new and the employees keep it in top notch shape. Every shelf has every item lined up neatly at front of the shelf. It's like you are the first one to shop there every time you go.

Nice new store, very bright. Didn't have everything my neighbourhood store does, or I just didn't see it. I wish all the stores were laid our exactly the same!! It would make shopping experience more enjoyable.

At first you’d think it’s a clean environment, which it is. And I thought so too. This location sells expired goods. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND SHOP AT NO FRILLS. They put gone bad meat on sale and sold it. If I could give zero stars I could. This location is disgusting. If you do chose to shop here, please double check your grocery. All the best.

Super nice staff, very clean and well stocked store, carts are very smooth which is a nice bonus while the store and everything is so new. Seems you can get in from both sides of the parking lot. The aisles are a bit narrow for two carts to get through at the ends but it might be intentional due to the one way directional design. Lots of vegan items including Yves, LifeSmart Plant-Based things, Sol, Gardein, Beyond, Boca, Unmeatable, Silk milk. Didn’t see vegan yogurts. Not much vegan cheese. Some vegan ice cream.
