Such a charming, welcoming place that makes you want to hang out a while. Absolutely not your typical salon, it's a little style adventure. For many years Chenoa has given me the most fantastical unicorn hair and kept my long locks intact. She's a colour genius, has a great sense of products, can cut and maintain a vast range of hair types including curly. Without a doubt, those values and hair culture cross over to the Field Trip team. Environmentally conscious to boot!

Nessa is an amazing stylist and I can't wait to keep coming back :) the decor here is also super cute and prices are usual for a good quality haircut.

I feel like my experience was an outlier because there are so many good reviews but I really did not like my cut from here and even as it's grown out it hasn't improved much for me. My stylist and I chatted, I showed them a photo of the cut I was looking for, and they seemed like they understood what was going on with my hair. My cut was different from what I showed them in a lot of key ways. One fo the main things I mentioned was wanting curtain bangs, and they cut very long face framing layers that fell about 2.5 inches below my jaw. My reference photo had slightly chunkier and blunter bangs that fell about 0.5-1 inch above the jaw with a few pieces around the apples of the cheeks. The rest of the cut in my reference photo and wispy layering falling just below the collar bone, with all the layers falling below the jaw. The cut I got had mostly blunt cutting on the collarbone area and then with chunky layering that mostly sat at earlobe length on the top, with some thinning that sat at the top of my ears as well. There wasn't much transition between this layering and the bottom length and it had a shelf-like layer kind of effect on my hair. The layering on the top sections of my hair were significantly shorter than my "bangs". My stylist had clearly noted that I had a lot more density in the bottom sections of my hair so I'm not sure why the bottom was left so thick and blunt with lighter layers sitting so high on top. One thing that I've noticed about 8 weeks after getting my hair cut is that I already had noticeable split ends. I'm really confused by this as I don't expect that they would be using dull shears, but also I've never noticed split ends appearing so quickly after a cut. I had over 6 inches taken off so it's definitely not just because I didn't get enough trimmed off and other than a small streak my hair was virgin/unprocessed. I also don't heat style my hair and wash it every 3-4 days usually so it being routine damage doesn't check out either. I can't say for sure that it was something to do with the cut I received though(maybe that section of my growth was just in poorer health who knows). I wanted to treat myself this year and go to a nice salon, and ended up being pretty disappointed. This is by far the most expensive hair cut I've gotten in my life(I think it was about 135 after fees, before a tip) but it was in the bottom 5 in satisfaction. I can't say I would come back and try again just because it is so expensive. It's sad because I came to this salon loving the photos I'd seen of the stylists work. I definitely could have done a better job advocating that I was unhappy with some of the cut but in the moment you just kind of want to trust that the stylist knows what they're doing, and waiting to see if it turns out. By no means was it horrible, but I definitely felt unsatisfied especially for the price.

I love this salon and the amazing humans who work here. From my personal experience, Chenoa and Lindsay are amazing stylists. The other stylists appear to do fantastic work as well. Highly recommend.

Kate is just amazing - professional & calming. She really listens & asks questions to understand what you want, even if you're not quite sure yourself. I arrived late & wasn't feeling rushed at all by her. Great haircut & wonderful company. Definitely recommend!

Did a consultation about colouring with Nessa. Super friendly and honest. I will definitely go back to get my hair done with them. The place itself looks little in the outside but don’t let that fool you. Amazing salon in the inside. Staff are very friendly.

While still living in Vancouver, I’d been going to Field Trip for over a year for my hair colour with Nessa. Beyond it being a quaint space, it’s truly a safe one with fantastic stylists who work here. Nessa is absolutely talented and kind, and I wouldn’t have stopped coming to Nessa and this salon if I still lived here! This is truly a wonderful hair salon and a gem in the city.
