The facility & residents are lovely, but we were really disappointed in the place overall. They made a big deal of how they would do their best to keep my parents together should one need more care. But when that happened they washed their hands of it. The reality is that there, SL & SL4 is in a physically separate space & placement is managed by AHC. So we understood in many ways, but were shocked at how dismissive they were of my parents needs, bordering on rude. My father was whisked away in an ambulance & not once did anyone there phone the family to see how he was. Happy to leave.

My dad was a resident in the SL4 side for almost 2 years. Overall, we were disappointed in the care he received, especially in the last 6-9 months. They have a frequent staff rotation that results in the staff not getting to know the residents very well, and my dad felt like he was being cared for by strangers most of the time. This made the facility feel very impersonal for him, and for us. His care plan was not followed very well, and since the staff didn’t really know him, they did not work effectively with him, as they didn’t know his preferences. It was often difficult to find a staff member to help when we needed it as the facility seems to be understaffed. He had a bed alarm as well as a call bell, and it was not always answered - both my mother and I experienced a long delay or no response at all when the alarm went off, at different times. Management was open to hearing about our concerns, but we found that nothing was done to alleviate them. Dad was moved to a different facility, where we found the care to be far superior to what he received while at Evanston.

If I could give them zero stars I would. We moved our Dad into the SL4 side last August and everything went really well for the first couple of Months. Then as a family, we started to see things that concerned us about the care that our Dad was getting. So then we started to voice our concerns about the training of some of the staff and they do not have sufficient training to deal with Dementia patients. When we did say anything, the power's at be, agreed with us that their staff does not have the training to deal with the patients. I even had a Police officer tell me that the staff does not have the proper training for these individuals. The Police offer told me that my Dad would suffer the consequences and he did. Our Dad is fine but he is in a different place now. If there is any advice i can give to anyone, do your research, DO NOT trust the first viewing and read the reviews as this is your loved one that you are trusting in someone else's care. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

My Dad has been a resident at Evanston Grand Village for some time now and he has been treated with the upmost care and respect. They have truly gone out of their way to make him feel safe and secure. They have allowed him to bring his little dog into the home to allow him to have a sense of normalcy since he lost my mom and made the life altering decision to move from his home in Lethbridge to Calgary so he was near family. The staff and management have given me the peace of mind that we have placed him in the right place. I felt extremely comfortable with all the staff and management and noticed just how much they truly care about all their residents.

With everything going on with Covid and the poor publicity in the news, I thought I would share with you my positive experience with Evanston Grand Village. My mother left Bethany ALC on April 24, 2020 during the height of the pandemic with an uncertain future. She spent a difficult 2 weeks at home all with the hope that she would be better off when she was allowed to move into Evanston Grand Village. She was fortunate not to come down with any illness and Evanston Grand Village allowed her to move in on May 9, 2020. She spent another 2 weeks in self isolation but was immediately feeling better upon her arrival. Evanston Grand Village allowed us to bring her furniture and personal items to her room before moving in which really helped ease the transition. Once there, she felt welcomed and at home. She has had a very positive experience at Evanston Grand Village. The staff do an excellent job of looking after her needs and offering support. They check on her regularly. Her room and the facility is kept very clean. She recently got her hair done and was very happy about that. She enjoyed the young dancers that came to perform for the seniors. The staff is excellent about communicating with me and making sure my mom's needs are being looked after. My mom appreciates all of the positive care she receives while staying at Evanston Grand Village. We were even able to visit with my mom one day when the staff brought her out on to the balcony to see us. My mom got dressed up and even had makeup on for our visit. I could see that she was being well cared for and happy. I speak with my mom every day on the phone and she is always telling me what wonderful people work at Evanston Grand Village and that she is grateful for all that they do.

My mom has been a resident of Evanston Grand Village for over a year. The staff are always responsive and adapt to her changing needs. Calm atmosphere. Lots of smiles. My mom feels safe and always seems at ease when I visit. I have confidence she is being well looked after. Communication has been excellent. Great fit for my mom.
