Used to be a tenant there for 10 years. Very helpful landlord. They took great care of their properties.

I would not recommend them as a property management company or landlords I would want to rent from. Even if you've been a tenant for over 10 years with no issues, the second you stand up for yourself on stuff they're doing incorrectly and illegally , head office will hang up on you in the middle of a call, they'll try to screw you over any way they can and do a 180 on their attitude. Do yourself a favour and don't rent from them.

We were leasing one of the offices in the building of Vancouver Block 736 Granville Street which is managed by "Equitable Real Estate". We were affected by the noises from the jewelry tenant next room and upstairs in the building. Noises include hammering, heavy machine operating and vibrating sounds since we moved in 2015. Since we started having these matters, we asked and sent letters to Equitable Real Estate, the management office, and they moved out the small jeweler - Chinese operated; however, they were not willing to relocate the business upstairs which is 40-year-old, larger business that had no appropriate business license at the time (according to the inspector from the City of Vancouver). The management office β€œEquitable Real Estate” is discriminatory in terms of putting priority and importance on tenants with larger square feet, longer leases, and deeper connection with the landlord. We definitely felt unfairly treated through the whole corresponding processes. At the end, Equitable Real Estate suggested us to move out if we cannot accept the noise issues. They told us that we could move out before the contract ends and that there would be no penalties. We then decided to move out. Though they said there would be no penalty, they were sneaky in charging us few hundred dollars for a lock change which got deducted from the deposit. This fee is usually not charged upon moved out as per the email from the property manager of the building. People who are considering to lease their management office especially Vancouver Block 736 Granville Street should be cautious and re-consider if there are other options. Be aware the type of management and the businesses of surrounding units, because management company never tells the new tenants about the issues and the possibilities of these matters happening in the future.

The absolute BEST property management firm in Vancouver hands down! I moved into an apartment in one of their buildings downtown quite a few years ago, and it was during a really rough transition for me. I was going through a horrible divorce and was working hard to get myself established work and home wise after over a decade of marriage. They were extremely patient with me during my transition. They (Sarah and Patricia) understood my struggles when employers paid me late...and especially when I needed to have a roommate move into my tiny 1-bedroom to help me support my mom financially. After almost two years, I ended up moving out and living with a new partner. Fast forward to a blustery day back in November 2019 and I was out on the hunt for a new place again. My spirits were very low as I had spent the entire summer looking at countless places and almost moving into two - having them both fall apart: one was a slumlord and the other falsely listed. I was at my wits end and tired of the endless months of couch surfing (which is a regular occurance here in VanCity with the most expensive living and lowest wage medians). Then I found that the unit next to the one I used to live in was open for rent. I JUMPED at the chance...hoping that I could get back in with the company and building I loved so much. When I met with the new landlady, she expressed that the team at the head office of Equitable told her "get her in right away." They remembered me AND my mom and I couldn't feel more safe, understood, and appreciated not only as a tenant, but a single woman in the city just trying to make her way. I'm here for the long haul now. :D
