Janet ambrose is extremely rude and not helpful at all. Why is she still even representing the consulate of Malaysia in Vancouver. Toxic behaviour, made the process even tougher than it already is, giving attitude left and right. Menopause man, PLEASE let it be MENORESUME so she can provide future people with better service.

Consulate is 18th floor inside the Fortis BC building. Due to COVID-19, the consulate only opens 10am to 12 noon. So be totally absolutely prepared: print extra copies of your documents, make sure you have all your original documents and ID and photos, bring your own pen. Arrive early. I suggest 9:50am and wait in the lobby. The moment the elevator is activated for 18th floor, go right up and into the consulate office. If you arrive later than that, high chance you'll be stuck in a queue or worse: have to come again next day. From the visitor logbook I saw today, they serve about 3 or 4 persons only in that short 2 hour period. I did registration of birth and passport application for my baby. Including filling up two forms (which could only be obtained in the consulate itself) and reviewing the documents, it took me 45 minutes even with everything ready for submission. Good luck everyone...

I have to be honest, the staff are not downright rude. But they are not nice either and can be very condescending. Definitely not exemplary of Malaysian like some good reviews have said. I can only guess why some have better experience - perhaps they know those staff personally. Information coming from the consulate is inconsistent at best. I have received email from them giving a list of documents required, and just 2 days later another email expanding the list of documents required in order to collect some document. It makes arranging anything very difficult, and I can imagine how difficult it could be for others coming from out of town. Be very well prepared if you want to deal with them. This consulate does aim not help you but will trip you up whenever they can.

Yes, I do agreed with all the reviewers regarding the most recent updates on the website. We were there 4 days ago to renew my husband passport. The gentleman Mr Pedro who attended to me 8 years ago was there to assist us. He was polite, honest and sincere in handling our case. I would encourage all to go through the website and call the Consulate to check if you are not sure what to bring along. Hope this will help. All the best. Kudos to Mr Pedro.

I do not understand the personal insults against Ms. Janet. Ms Janet is a familiar face at the consulate office that everyone in my family of four look forward to seeing! Ms. Janet is very dedicated to ensuring our passport renewal applications are free of errors and omissions so that our new passports can be renewed without any problems in Putrajaya. I've visited the Vancouver consulate office several times over 15 years to renew passports for myself and three other family members. Everyone in my family take their passport renewal applications seriously. We read the checklist and review our forms several times before we head to the consulate office and submit our applications (all at different times because our passports have different expiry dates). We dealt with Ms. Janet all these years (only one out of the many visits we had Mr. Pedro helped us - he is just as professional as Ms. Janet). Ms. Janet takes her work very seriously and I trust her ability to ensure my family's passport renewal applications are correct (no errors or omissions) before they are sent for processing in Putrajaya. I appreciate Ms. Janet's work all these years and I look forward to submit another passport renewal application soon! I had made one error during these years and that was my fault for thinking a photocopy of my ID was acceptable even though it was a bit too dark (photocopy the ID in grayscale not black/white or you can just do color copy I don't recall if that is acceptable - please check the checklist! I'm just about to start another passport renewal application soon). Ms Janet informed me that a photocopy of my Canadian permanent resident card is unacceptable because my face is not visible (too dark). I responded by letting her know that I will be back in an hour so I can walk over to Staples to get a proper photocopy. Again, this is a mistake that came back to bite me and I took full responsibility. Thanks for catching my mistake Ms. Janet! I appreciate your hard work all these years!

Attention people! For those who are interested to apply certificate of good conduct, please bring the following PRINTED documents: 1. Application Acknowledgement Slip 2. APPROVAL STATUS WHERE IS READY FOR COLLECTION (*NEW) 3. ORIGINAL PASSPORT AND A PHOTOCOPY (*NEW) 4. Letter of Authorization for collection by proxy (if applicable) 5. Cash (Mostly likely $10 CAD) Unfortunately, their website is obsolete. I can't really blame the front counter since they are new comers, only can point fingers to the top management. Seems like their inefficient practice in Malaysia spread towards Vancouver. Anyway, just be prepared! Cheers!

With the recent change of staff the environment is much friendlier. Will still need to deal with red tapes but at least the person behind the counter is very nice and friendly. The true Malaysian way. Kudos.
