"I’m passionate about cooperatives and have honoured to have the opportunity to contribute to the credit union’s exciting future. I like to bank where I belong — which is why I’ve been a member of connectFirst (or a predecessor) for over 40 years," says Paul.
Paul worked at Credit Union Central Alberta (“Central”) for over 18 years (1996-2013), most recently as Vice President, Strategy & Corporate Development. Central is the statutory liquidity manager and industry association for the Alberta credit union system, and also provides payments, technology and other back-office services.
"I am proud of the tremendous growth and success of Alberta credit unions, and also proud to have personally been part of it in my past career," he says.
Paul currently work as Vice-President, University Advancement at Mount Royal University, where he's led the alumni relations, fundraising, government relations, marketing and communications functions since 2017. He also has Master of Management Studies and Bachelor of Commerce degrees, and an ICD.D designation.
Past board experiences for Paul include service on the Mount Royal University Board of Governors, CUSource, Credit Union Payment Services, Coop EFT Development Association, Coop Network Services Committee, and Credit Union Organizational Support.

The biggest take-away from my experience is the friendliness of the environment and how I was welcomed and made sure the benefactor in this was me and my time before making a decision, I never felt like I was being forced to do anything I didn't understand. Our adviser, Hiran, was incredibly helpful and easy to correspond with. Looking forward to continuing to do business with this branch in the future. The only reason I rated 4 stars instead of 5 is because it took 3 weeks to have the everything completed after all paperwork was submitted for review.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After 45 years with First Calgary (and it's previous titles) as my first bank as a child, I had to leave. Between the complete mismanagement of the merger, and error upon error with my accounts by all staff, from teller to manager, I lost complete trust in this institution. When one has to take deep breaths prior to entering, it's a signal things are very bad indeed.

However, Hiran stood out as exceptional! He went above and beyond to process my application quickly, secured an excellent rate for me and was extremely kind and helpful. She took her time to explain what is required of us and what we needed to do. The front line staff were really understanding as well. We have the no-fees bank accounts, and then getting a mortgage this spring with the staff at this South Trail location was truly a blessing and a great experience. The staff, from beginning to end, was very friendly, made me feel comfortable, explained everything and anything to me, and found the best products for us to help us get approved. And the home buying, before (house appraisal) and day of possession went smooth and quick. And they even followed up to see if the move was good and that we are happy with our house. They were also professional in dealing with the pandemic measures, and always made us and the kids comfortable and were flexible with their hours for us. Thanks so much! We love our new home. :)
