Clean, bright modern bank branch. Staff are friendly and knowlegable. HSBC is a great bank for international banking clients. Bank ATM is normally always functioning after hours, with 24hrs access. Parking during the day can be somewhat tight, but there is usually always a parking spot. This is due to the amount of restaurants and other shops around.

My experience with HSBC in Canada has been pretty good. I had a negative experience at this branch when I was pressed to provide an explanation as to why I wanted to withdraw cash. However, the branch manager called me to discuss this issue later and turned this experience around. A good company should be judged by how they respond to issues and I think they responded to this admirably. Would recommend, thank you.

Do not get excited and try out your luck with HSBC so called mortgage rates. They will hit your credit and come up with a lame excuse not to move forward with your application. I found the mortgage adviser Jim, highly incompetent, when it came to providing guidance and options related to mortgage. They provide misinformation and contradict to what they advertise. I got my credit hit by them and then I was told that they will not process my application further due to a reason which did not even made sense to me. Now I have extremely limited choices available and a credit score down by 30 points. I was warned by several mortgage consultants but I was super confident that with my excellent credit and no financial constraints, I will get them to renew my mortgage but apparently I was super wrong. It doesn't even look like they want Canadians to setup mortgages with them. All they are trying to do is increase their debit/credit accounts at the banks.

We decided to move our day-to-day banking into HSBC because our mortgage was going through them. In no way is their day-to-day banking remotely comparable to any competitor. We had issues with their online banking, Interac transfers, they set up our mortgage to come out of the wrong account, just to list a few issues. The debit cards are extremely unreliable, I had issues at Lowes, Superstore and other reputable retailers. Would be trying to pay with debit (money is available) and it just says declined. When reaching out for support they just said it must be the retailer. Super embarrassing when you're the only one trying to check out and your card doesn't work. To top the cherry off, when we try to move away from the bank and update our mortgage payment account, they said they could not confirm which account the payment would come out of and told us to have two mortgage payments ready in the old and new account because they didn't know where they would take it from. Not impossible, but what a ridiculous request!! From my experience, you will see a lot of finger pointing for issues and no accountability on their part. Stay far far away from HSBC, you will only regret moving your banking here. Great mortgage rate though, credit due there.

I had a cheque issued to me, my husband, and my father and only my father has an HSBC account. I called the customer service line and explained my situation and was told that, as long as my husband and I sign it, we could deposit it into my dads account without him being there. The customer service rep even called ahead to the branch and let them know what was happening. Everything was fine, they said it would be no problem. I go into the branch and they won’t do it. They say because it’s a mortgage cheque (which it is NOT), they won’t put it in my dads account even though it’s endorsed by my husband and myself. They told me to go back to the original mortgage company to get them to deposit it, which doesn’t make sense. It was bad customer service and I don’t recommend this branch.
