We believe that people are a critical part of the Circle K brand, so we’ve fostered a culture which educates, inspires and empowers all our people to “Do the right thing” for everyone in the Circle K world. Circle K has a strong focus on training and motivation. That’s one of the reasons why, in the end, we can pride ourselves on providing the best customer experience in the convenience industry. And why we will sustain continued growth and leadership in the marketplace.

History of Circle K Stores

Circle K Stores are owned by Alimentation Couche-Tard, the largest convenience store operator in Canada. Circle K’s success in the convenience retailing industry spans more than 60 years. Back in 1951 when Fred Hervey purchased three Kay’s Food Stores in El Paso, Texas, little did anyone know these stores would serve as the beginning of Circle K, now, a proudly Canadian company.

During the next few decades, Circle K grew its retail network through a series of acquisitions, eventually incorporating into the Circle K brand. By 1975, there were 1,000 Circle K stores across the U.S. In 1979, Circle K entered the international market when the first Circle K stores were established in Japan. The company’s growth continued and, by 1984, sales had reached $1 billion.

A new milestone was attained in 1999 when Alimentation Couche-Tard acquired Mac’s Convenience Stores and became the largest national convenience store network in Canada – a distinction it still proudly holds today. Couche-Tard launched into the US market with the acquisition of Circle K stores in 2003 and has since developed into a global brand represented in over 20 countries.

Circle K has become one of the most widely recognized convenience store brands in the world, known for quality products and great customer service. We’ve come a long way since our humble beginnings, and we’re proud of where we’ve been and where we’re going.

Avoid buying milk in this store. I paid 4.89 dollars for 2 Lt 2% milk and the milk was bad when I got home. The same day I call Sunday June 9, 2019 @ 1:34pm and the lady that answer the phone said that she couldn't talk to me because she was with a customer. I guess I am not a customer she end up hanging the phone on me and not taking my advised that the milk that they have there is expired. I wish this Google reviews had 0 Starts.

Do not get ANYTHING here if you’re ever in the area. The employee I dealt with today (Jan 1st) could not care less about her customers. First transaction: I go up to purchase one thing, ask her what the price of another thing is, and then don’t purchase the other thing because it’s too much. Second transaction: I cave and go back to buy the second item. When going to do so, I notice a promotional sign on the wall behind her for the item, which would have saved me $50 on it when coupled with the first item in the first transaction. I brought it to her attention, and she seemed to have no clue about the sign behind her prior to this. Then she refused to give me any discount on the second item because I needed to buy the first with the second at the same time, though I purchased the first one less than ten minutes prior and would have purchased the second during the first transaction if she informed me about the promotion. I ended up disgruntled but purchased the product regardless, losing $50 I should have saved if this woman had cared enough about her job to attempt to do something or to be aware of store promotions to begin with. Moral of the story: if she doesn’t seem to care about customers at all in this instance, I would not be surprised if she didn’t care enough to keep the slurpee machine, ice cream machine, etc. sanitary. Just avoid this place entirely when at the airport, until they hire better staff.

Convenient location in the Edmonton International Airport. It is located right next to the baggage carousel. They carry a wide variety of snacks and beverages. There is a large chip selection too. They also carry soft serve. You do not find soft serve in many Mac's stores. This location is always busy and there is a line up to pay sometimes.
