Chartwell Harbours Retirement Residence - Calgary

My Gramma lives at Chartwell Harbours and loves it. Through covid the staff kept her safe and still managed to have fun! She is so excited that things are getting back to normal. The staff are amazing, they go above and beyond to make her happy. She has made so many new friends since she moved in, she wishes she would have moved in sooner!

My mom loves her home at Chartwell Harbours Retirement Residence. Fun, outgoing and accommodating staff, food services and everything in between. As a daughter it has been such a relief to have her needs met, especially during the trying months of Covid-19, when family could not always be on site. We have never had anything but positive interactions with the staff. Highly recommend without reservations.

I thought I would take this opportunity to update my review on Chartwell Harbours now that my mother has lived at the residence for over a year. My positive opinion of the residence has not changed. My mom thoroughly enjoys living there. It seems to me the perfect place for able seniors to live independently while offering the chance to socialize and participate in numerous activities to keep their minds and bodies active. The suites are very nice with all the amenities (stove-top, microwave and dishwasher). The food service remains top notch. The staff remain one of the strongest aspects favoring Chartwell. They keep their residents ad resident's families informed. I didn't mention in my last review their stellar record during the Covid pandemic. If you look back on the residents or staff who contracted Covid, the numbers were extremely low compared to other facilities. I continue to highly recommend Chartwell Retirement Residence. I am happy to provide this review of the Chartwell Harbours Retirement Residence. Chartwell Harbours is located in Coventry Hills in NE Calgary. My mom’s suite has an exceptional view of the courtyard and harbour, has a large living/dining area, kitchenette, large bathroom, reasonably sized bedroom and a large pantry. Laundry facilities are located just down the hall. The residence is conveniently located within walking distance of a shopping complex with grocery, drug and liquor stores to name a few. My mom often walks to Sobeys to pick up supplies but can also telephone them to order groceries and prescriptions which are delivered to the residence. The monthly rental is reasonable considering the lovely suites and exceptional dining. My mom raves about the food and I’m always jealous when I ask what she had for lunch or dinner as it’s really sounds delicious. Chartwell offers many activities for its residents throughout the week. My 87 year old mom, who has always been an active and social person, takes part in everything she can from hallway exercises to bingo to virtual travel sessions. They have happy hours on Thursday afternoons where the staff come by with a cart of beverages and snacks usually themed (Christmas, Easter etc.). My mom has made many friends since moving in and I believe she really enjoys living there. I save my highest praise for the staff at Chartwell Harbours, in particular the Residence Manager, Laura Hanley, the front desk personnel, dining and cleaning staff and everyone else. They have been so very helpful and always with a smile on their faces. My mom raves about the staff constantly. I want to particularly applaud the Chartwell organization and staff for their handling of the complex and residents during the Covid-19 pandemic. They managed the lock down in a very effective way and always kept residents and family fully informed. Knowing the horror stories associated with senior living facilities throughout the country during the pandemic, Chartwell Harbours came through with flying colours. At no time have I been worried about my mom while living at Chartwell. In conclusion, I am so happy we chose Chartwell Harbours for my mom and would highly recommend the residence for your aging loved ones who can continue to live independently while also partaking of the amenities and activites offered by the residence.

Walking in the door at Harbours feels so warm. We are always greeted by name and treated like it is our home too. Our friend loves living at Harbours, she was so isolated through covid and has made so many friends since moving in. She talks about how good the food is all the time and how friendly the servers are. All of staff are great!

My parents have been living at Chartwell Harbours for 2 years. We are very impressed how Chartwell has kept them safe during the pandemic. The staff are fantastic. They are very kind, caring and helpful. I very pleased and appreciative of the care they are given.

My Mom is a new resident and she is thoroughly enjoying her decision to make the Harbours her new home. The residents and staff are very friendly and have been very welcoming! The whole process from the first phone call to moving in was very seamless. We were encouraged to call with any questions and/or visit as many times as we wanted to. The suite was renovated with new flooring, bathroom, and paint. Her suite has the most amazing view. Mom enjoys watching the activity on the lake through her windows! All the staff have gone above and beyond in making her feel welcomed and comfortable. Not only was there a "Welcome Home" sign on her door along with a welcome basket, they even supplied snacks and drinks to all the members of her moving party! Mom had many visitors on her moving day from staff and fellow residents which made her first day stress free and removed any apprehension she my have had. I highly recommend The Harbours to anyone contemplating a move to a retirement residence.

It's a big decision to sell a home and move to independent livinging, thankfully the Chartwell Staff made it so much easier for dad to make this move. From Shavon, to Reception, cleaning and kitchen staff...everyone has been exceptionally welcoming to not only dad but us, his daughters as well.....and Pepper, his dog. We can't say enough about his experience so far and look forward to the friendships he will form during his time there. It's a relief to know he enjoys his meals, is taking part in activities and is surrounded by such a wonderfully caring group of people. We are SO thankful to have found Chartwell Harbours!

We have been a primary mechanical contractor for Chartwell Harbours for several years now. Staff members have always been polite and followed safety protocols to provide the best experience for both our technicians and the residents alike. When delivering recommendations for mechanical repairs and maintenance it has been addressed accordingly. Doing so has ensured proper air quality and maintained building infrastructure conditions to reduce downtime and minimize inconvenience to the residents.
