Chartwell Brant Centre Long Term Care Residence

I worked there for a summer and the staff are always so caring. They truly love their residence and it shows. From the RNs to those in the kitchen, everyone does what they can to make everyday a good one for the residents.

I was visiting this residence last month with my baby chicks and was really impressed with the staff. I was particularly moved by the Honour Guard. The staff lined the entry way to pay tribute to a resident who had passed. The staff on hand told me that at Chartwell residents are welcomed when they enter and leave. The atmosphere of RESPECT left me in tears!

Honestly, this home needs sprucing up. The residents rooms need a major refresh. The recreation is not up to par. You can go for days with no activities offered. Seems like a lot of lonely, understimulated residents. There are a lot of efficient staff, but the main floor looks disorganized and messy. It seems like it has a lot of administrative staff, but not enough hands on workers. They should look into the Butterfly Effect program, but as this is a for profit home I doubt that will happen.

Both my grandparents stayed at the Brant Centre until they passed. My grandfather was there for 4 years and my grandmother for 3 years. Overall, the care and community was fabulous within the residence. I want to say a special thank you to all the staff, especially Colleen, Rosemary, Anika, Nicole & Lucy (and so many more). My grandfather passed in January 2020 prior to the pandemic leaving my grandmother alone. Obviously this was a tough time for our family. Unfortunately my grandmother was deemed palliative in July 2020, but we were so happy to be able to visit -- even in full PPE. The only person who made my experience awful was the RN Jody. She insinuated that I wanted to bring covid-19 into the building by visiting my grandmother on my death bed. My grandma died 2 days later after her comment. Stay clear of Jody and you will have a great experience.

All I can do is praise The Brant Centre. Nothing but quality staff, volunteers, and care here! Both my Nanny and Grampy were residents here until they passed. My Nan was there for 5 years, and my Grampy just shy of 1 year. It was our goal to get them there to be together again but we missed it by about 2 weeks. Before my Grampy was a resident he was there often throughout the week visiting my Nan and the staff treated Him as one of their own without a second thought. Offering Him coffee, checking up on Him if they hadn’t seen Him for a few days, and even contacting us when they had concerns. My Nan was hesitant at first when she moved in, but once she was settled and got to know the staff and how things work- we would come to visit and could never find her because she would be off somewhere at an activity or in one of the common rooms. (Hilarious enough she won an award for most attended activities). My Grampy moved in just a few weeks before covid came and changed how we are able to live and interact. Staff did everything they could though to help with video chats, arrange safe outdoor visits, and keep us in the know of changing protocols for safe indoor visiting. Bonus was I work at the hospital next door and he had a window facing the parking lot so we got to wave to each other every single day and staff would even remember to make sure he was back to his room in time if he forgot. I will forever be thankful for the care and love they received in their time there. All the staff (admin, nurses, rec, physio, OT, kitchen, housekeeping, PSW, cafe volunteers, hair dressers, doctors, anyone else I missed) all complete hearts of GOLD!
