Placed on order online for pick up, got a confirmation that the item needs to be picked up within 2 days. Called the store and spoke with someone to see if it's possible to pick up the item a day later and was assured that it's ok. On the day of pick up I received an email saying that my order has been cancelled and my item was given to someone else...

I believe his name is steve, the older guy that works in the customer service side of the store is fantastic. super friendly, and you can tell that he not only enjoys the job, but also does his best at it. I ordered basically an entire disassembled computer with them overnight, and by the next afternoon i had a text saying that i could come pick it up. Decent prices, and i could not be happier with the PC that i built with them. Floor staff can be helpful when you can find them, but are often hidden in plain sight (wearing hoodies, or customer looking attire), and the long haired guy can be a tad rude, or rather can come across that way sometimes.

My service from the Oakville location was stellar. This store, however, was far less than. If misogynistic arrogance is what you’re looking for, then look no further. I took my computer in to be repaired under warranty. I purchased it less than one year ago with extended warranty. The SSD drive failed, which is no fault of the stores. However, the attitude of the person getting the information regarding the computer and submitting it for service was rather awful. He was rude and clearly under the impression that anyone not IT had no idea about technology. I was chided for not having my data backed when I use a cloud based server, etc. His demeanour was condescending then, and when I called back today to check on the status a month later, he couldn’t find me by phone number at all. I gave him the identification number off the invoice, and he eventually located the work order, indicated comments from the factory were coincidentally what was written by him at the time of accepting my computer. When I pointed out that he wrote that, he became haughty and denied that until I read him the complete paragraph. He went on to tell me it would be 8 weeks instead of the three I was told. I asked to speak to a manager, at which time I was placed on hold for 26 minutes. I finally hung up as it was clear no manager was coming to address the issue. As it stands, I have no idea the status of my repair.. not ideal when trying to run a medical office in the middle of a pandemic….

I needed screws for a component, phoned in ahead of time and the service guys were welcoming. In contrast to Staples who don't have in-house service, they let me look at their surplus screws and take a few that matched. Finding these parts could have been a headache but it is nice when these small requests are respected and they are helpful and friendly!

The manager, who was in charge of my sale, didn't even introduce himself and dismissed just as quickly. When you spend the time, research, and money in a product you wish to buy, perhaps, saying thank you for taking (my) money shouldn't be implied. There was a reason I chose not to shop Big Box, I needed help and guidance, I was offered none. More over once I was dismissed after purchasing, I was directed to the "tech counter" with no regard for what was needed for me or communication to the staff in charge of the complimentary boot-up/data transfer. Canada computers is not at fault, but DO NOT go to the one in kingfisher square!

I went in on a quiet Tuesday afternoon and didn't see any other customers. The glass L-shaped counter at the front had four CC staffers staring intently into their screens. I stood at the counter and waited. And looked around. And waited a few more seconds before interrupting the nearest one with an "Excuse me?" He looked up and asked if I needed help and I said yes and asked him to get some items from the display hooks behind him. He then referred me to a second employee, the cashier. His computer screen was obviously more important. I repeated the request and asked about another item I intended to get from my 5-item list. "Yeah, that's up against the back wall..." I asked if they would prefer me to get the item myself. Yes. "Well, I can't leave the cash. Sorry. Up against the back wall back there." I then said, "Thank you very much!" And he replied "No problem.", which was the understatement of the year. He was still holding onto the SD cards I was going to buy as I walked out of the store empty-handed but glad not to reward this poor showing. Indifference to a customer walk-in is why online is chosen over bricks-and-mortar, and why I headed immediately to a competitor. With online, you at least don't have to leave the house to be treated badly. Two stars, with the bump above 1 star for pricing and ... ok, just the pricing. This isn't the first time at a CC location where the customer experience was beyond brutal and deep into toxic thanks to the store employees. I definitely wouldn't buy anything expensive (like a laptop) from a place like this and you shouldn't, either.

Over the years our family has purchased many items from Canada Computers. Cell phones, computer peripherals, upgrade components, etc. You may notice I did not list larger items like laptops, gaming computers, routers, etc. I will explain later. First the good; often times the pricing is good on sale items and the techs at the Hamilton store are friendly and know what they are doing. We have no issue with the techs or sales folks. The bad outweighs the good; the manager I encountered a couple of times is miserable and has no interest in making sure customers are satisfied. Whatever you do, do not buy the extended warranty as it rarely covers any issue you may have and is purely used to increase profits. In the last two years we have had three different items, a keyboard, a gaming mouse and a cell phone with a battery issue. All three times the warranty did not cover the problem. Keyboard did not work properly, took 5 months to find out they would not cover replacement. The gaming mouse, cord frayed from normal use, not covered. At first the techs were going to cover it but manager intervened and denied the claim. The cell phone battery wont hold the charge and we were told we must buy the battery and they will install for free. Called Corporate office but they are useless and refer you back to the store for warranty issues. We now limit our purchases at Canada Computers to cheap peripherals and upgrade components but do not buy extended warranty as it is useless. We buy our bigger items like laptops, etc. at Costco, Best Buy or Staples. All of them have much better extended warranty programs and when you add up the cost of the item plus warranty the big chains are often better priced as well.
