This camp was a formative part of my life and the experiences I had throughout many summers here have helped me immeasurably in my life and career as a teacher. As a teen-week camper, I had a wonderful time sleeping in a cabin with new friends, learning how to canoe, build a fire, and shoot a bow. Later, as a volunteer counsellor, I learned skills for working with children. It was a fabulous summer job for a few years, which looked great on a resume, especially when it came time to explaining skills I had learned for the management of kids. As an adult, I have been fortunate to spend a lot of time out at Camp Maskepetoon for different weddings and events since the camp is available for rent in the off-season. I have seen the camp grow and I cannot believe how all the new renovations have given the camp a face life while still maintaining the magic of camp. I hope to one day send my own kids to this camp since it has been such a big part of my life.

The things we love about this camp: great location, easy access, large log cabin as the main hall, trees and green grass meadows. Ample parking, decently placed cabins to enjoy the view, plus a wash house with showers and toilets. Simple heated cabins with bunk beds sleeping 8. There is also a home that you can rent (I didn't have access to it, but hear it is warm and cozy with a function al kitchen) There is always plenty of wood to burn, and there is enough supplies and equipment in the kitchen to make meals for big groups. The water is always hot. Things that needs to be considered if you are choosing to rent it out: The buildings are aged, but the kitchen is functional and well equipped. The whole place needs a serious scrub, from dirt in the corners, cobwebs, windows, the walk in cooler needing some serious attention and replacing all the lightbulbs that are burnt out. Bring drinking water, the well has a bit of a funk to it. And try and pick a cabin away from the wash house, on warm days you can catch a sniff of the septic tank. New flooring would make this place good as new, as well as a covered area outside would be a nice addition for people to enjoy and stay dry. A dock would be idea for fishing or swimming as the lake is very soft and weedy near the shore.

I never could have imagined what going to one week of camp at Camp Maskepetoon would have done for me. At first it was one week at a summer camp a friend brought me to but it turned into something much more special. Camp Maskepetoon has become a part of who I am and led me towards some amazing opportunities and lifelong friendships. I recommend Camp Maskepetoon over and over again to any parent to wanting to send their child to camp and any adult who wants to staff or volunteer there. You wont regret this unforgettable experience!

I have had the pleasure of attending more than one event at scenic Camp Maskepetoon. The one thing I can say with confidence is how impressive the recent and ongoing facility upgrades are looking. From new floors, to fresh paint and stain and things in between, the camp, in my opinion, has never looked better. I am looking forward to my next visit out to Pigeon Lake, and Camp Maskepetoon. As a hospitality professional, I would absolutely recommend the camp as both an event venue and for its originally intended purpose as a children’s summer camp.

Camp Maskepetoon is such a lovely and unique venue. Perched on the shores of Pigeon Lake, the views are stunning, particularly at sunset. There are also some lovely walks through the woods around the cabins. (One even crosses a very charming brook, that has these delicate yellow wildflowers on its banks in springtime.) The facilities are great and really well maintained. There are some tidy log cabins, with bunks for overnight guests and a wonderful central lodge that would make the perfect venue for a rustic but classy wedding. I've visited this site a few times and I've noticed they've made some upgrades lately to good effect. Overall, I would recommend this for weddings and parties.
