Callingwood Barbershop - Edmonton

So I got a haircut earlier today. Nothing fancy, just a 2 on top and 1 on the sides with a lineup. I've been to this specific shop about 3 times including today and have always got the same cut. The first time started off fine but the barber clearly wasn't used to cutting curly hair and another barber stopped me from getting up when the original barber said he was done. So he spent a few minutes cleaning up the cut and taught the barber how to fade properly (keep this in mind for the future). So that barber knew how to cut curly hair pretty well so I didn't care much because he cleaned it up well. So I went a second time and it went fine since it was a different barber. But today was my 3rd time and I was paired with that same barber who didn't know how to cut curly hair all to well. I gave him the benefit of the doubt since it has been over a year since the first one so I would assume his skills would have improved, but to be fair covid could have played a factor. So I sat down and told him the same cut as I always get...long story short this is the worst haircut I've ever gotten in my life and I didn't realize how bad it was until I got home hahah. The worst part isn't the lineup although that is really bad. The worst is the bootleg fade that looks like an unfinished fade, terrible blending. And usually when I say 2 on top it means only on top but the back of my head was left on 2 so I've got a new hair style which looks terrible. Cant wait to go to work tomorrow. Going to have to start wearing a hat until my hair grows out a decent size. But seriously nothing against him but if you can't cut curly hair just ask for help or tell me to wait for a different barber. Because you can't put my hair back on after you cut it, there is no shame in not knowing something but I'm very disappointed about how bad this turned out, and I still gave a good tip! I'm not here to say that this is a bad shop but not being able to cut curly hair just doesn't make sense for a barber.

Came today with my kids and my elder son showed picture of model hair he wanted and I even clarified to the barber to do undercut on sides and back. The instruction is very clear for him to do the job but afterwards his work is totally different from what we told him. He did not do undercut and followed what was told him to do. Avoid the old man barber on the middle station he is not good and he's better off that barbershop.

My son has Downs Syndrome and is somewhat anxious about haircuts, but when I brought him in they were absolutely amazing with him! They not only gave him the cut he wanted, they made him comfortable while doing so. He’s had haircuts there several times by several of the barbers and we’re always happy with the haircut and they’ve always treated him with respect! Absolutely love this place!!

They were quick, clean and reasonably priced. What more could you ask for?

Always like coming here for my hair cut! I've always liked a standard everyday barber shop where I can walk in and get my haircut.

I used to come to this place all the time so I figured it would still be the decent price it used to be(around 21-23$ without tip). I come in and get my regular haircut with a quick moustache shave. That’s it. The price turned out to be $28.40! That’s insane for a haircut. I used to leave tips here all the time. I only came in the place with $27 as I figured it couldn’t be more than that. But when I was short I still had to go to my car and grab the rest. No “don’t worry about it” or “next time”. Any other place can give you the same cut for like $5 cheaper. Only reason I’m giving 2 stars is because the specific barber I was with was very friendly and a cool guy. But overall definitely not leaving tips here and probably won’t be back again.

Just moved to the area and was gonna try out a couple different barbers to see what I liked. This was the first place I went but he did such a good job I will just continue to go here. Quick and professional.
