Excellent water pressure. Beautiful rooms. A little warm above the parking garage.

This is probably one of the worst accommodations that we have yet experienced as avid travellers. We had invested in a 3-bedroom chalet for our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 small children). The chalet was old, extremely dirty, and run-down. They chalet was dark in every room. They had only supplied partial bulbs for all of their light fixtures. When we first entered the chalet, the set up was so poor that you automatically feel the claustrophobia with the low hanging ceiling and cluttered layout of the rooms. You cannot walk anywhere without hitting furniture or passing another person without having to move out of the way and we are not big people. You cannot access the bedroom without having to close the bathroom door. There is absolutely NO storage space anywhere in the entire chalet. There is no room for you to put your luggage anywhere in the master bedroom and no storage space even in the kitchen considering you are renting a chalet to have access to the kitchen and bring / buy your own groceries. Their oven/stove does not work. You cannot open your utensil drawer as the oven door handle blocks it so you must open the oven door every time prior to using the utensils. They even cut their dish sponge into a quarter size to save on cost. How are you supposed to wash pots/pans with a sponge that is 1x1 inches wide? The bathroom has not even 1 hook or towel rack. The chalet was made to accommodate 6 people. Not sure where they expect the guests to hang their towels in the bathroom. There is not even a hook for a hand towel. The front closet only has 2 hangers. All of the electrical plugs are so old that they don’t fit any standard plugs so they fall out and hard to charge any of your devices. The keyless lock on the door does not work consistently and we realized by default that our cabin was left open when it should have been locked automatically after you close the door. The one reason we booked with Douglas Fir was because of their indoor waterpark and games room. The pictures of the indoor waterpark made it looked bright and clean, but the entire pool was dark and poorly lit. The indoor pool was not available. Every single game in the game room was broken. The air hockey table was broken with no air, the foosball table was out of commission because they lost the ball, the photo game was out of commission, and our children were too small to play the pool table which was the only thing standing in the game room. We were so disappointed with our chalet considering the cost. Although it is an older chalet, there was so much that management could have done to keep the place clean and at least functional. We could not wait to leave our accommodation and in fact cancelled our last day. We loved Banff but will definitely not be staying at Douglas Fir again.

I had called this resort before we left the city to confirm that they would take my visa debit for the room and they had confirmed that they would indeed use my debit visa but they would just charge my card for everything instead of a pre authorization. I confirmed it again with them and they said absolutely they would do this and to come out. We arrived at the resort and once the male working behind the counter seen that my boyfriend is Indigenous he changed his mind and said that he would not honour what was said to me when we called. This is extremely upsetting and I will be spreading this on all sites and every person I know going to Banff. We found a much higher star resort that was willing to accommodate the visa debit, it’s not like we didn’t have the money. I’m extremely disappointed in this resort and I feel extremely sorry for the lady he was training.

Before getting there, I called and told them I just booked online and told her the reservation number and where I booked it from. I asked if they were offering a military discount, she said yes just to present our car at the reception when we get there. They did not. Also, this is NOT a pet friendly place. I booked a room there because it was in the pet friendly list, but they are not. I had to leave my dog to one of my friend. The bath was disgusting... it was almost black. We had to clean it ourselves. I don't think they cleaned the chimney either because when we started a fire, the whole room because so smoky. I will not return there. Go just across the street for a better place and services.

Edited: while we have used this hotel often over the years and things like cable issues, some wear n tear, closed amenities we've blew off, but now we're DONE. The goal is to relax when we come to Banff - couldn't do that here: kids! Literally running up and down the halls, using elevator lobbies as social hubs, we could actually hear them echoing through the vents when they went to other floors they we so loud! If the hotel can't enforce the quiet time what value is it? Lesson learned, never ever again.

Stayed here before and enjoyed it but asking people to stay minimal of 3 night between Christmas and new years that equal $1000 is called dictatorship. Not everyone has extra $1000 for a hotel that is only 1 hour away from calgary when i want to stay one or two nights at most. You should be more flexible

My husband and I stayed 1 night for our wedding anniversary, and it was lovely. We had an apartment room (149) with a stunning view from the balcony. There was a wood burning fireplace with wood supplied and we were able to have a gorgeous little fire in the evening. The bathtub was also beautiful, nice deep tub with a sloping back to sit comfortably in. The room decor is dated (decorated like from the eighties perhaps?) but for us 30 year olds, it just brought back fond memories of the decor we experienced as children in hotels. Really the only negative was that there was no hand soap in our room...so we just used the shower gel to wash our hands.

Really old and run down. Couch was worn and torn from the 80'. Bed blankets were from the 70s. Carpets were super old. Place needs some serious renovations. Plus there were some massive spiders. On the plus side, the pool was nice. The play place was closed and was advertised as open online.
