Busy Bee Machine Tools Ltd

This was my first experience going to busybee today. I have to say that I was very impressed with the service I received from the young lady that helped me. She was very helpful and made my shopping for a dust collector simple and efficent as I really hate shopping in stores. I want to go in and out in a jiffy. That's what happened when I went in to busy bee and am very satisfied. Bravo to your team. P.S. The cashier was trying to make small talk too just enough to be mindful and I thought it was perfect. Update: My dust collector strap broke right away on first use. Called busy bee customer service as directed and no call back. Took 2 messages and an email to finally receive a lousy answer saying that they were trying to get in stock. Additionally, I then ordered the straps and paid and now am receiving these tomorrow. They are selling the replacement straps that they should be giving me. Not with this at all.

Good store, good product range, but disappointed with their service. Ordered online, I needed some supplies quite urgently, and the order status on the website soon showed 'shipped'. However 9 days later the stuff hadn't arrived so I rang them. They told me that the order was being shipped today... 9 days after I placed the order. Apparently some items were back ordered, so they held the shipment, but didn't tell me. So now its another 3-7 days before I get receive the order. Would have appreciated some communication. Suggest if you need stuff urgently you phone your order in.

Staff is helpful, will make sure you get the right items for your machine should you need parts, blades, etc. Love the catalogues

Very experienced staff. Helpful and willing to spend time to explain the tools options and any other information you need. I do recommend Busy Bee stores .

Be forewarned: very poor customer service at Ottawa store and at head office. Indifferent and arrogant manager. This kind of service does not even merit one star, I’m sorry to say.

Not impressed. Staff were at best indifferent. I only bought products because I needed them and this was my first in-store experience. I won’t be back and will drive the extra distance to Lee valley which has identical prices and significantly better customer service and friendly staff

I love Busy Bee Tools. I've spent a lot of money there over the years. Wasn't happy today though when I got to the counter and they wanted to charge me $40 more than the internet listed price. The difference between your listed price and the price on your computer screen isn't my problem. It's yours. Very dissappointed. Update: Gotta say, I was very impressed to receive a call from the head office after this incident. They offered to reduce the price on the item to the advertised internet price. It was too late because I bought it elsewhere, but the call was appreciated. Not sure who these people are talking about poor customer service. I was impressed.

The Busy Bee brand Craftex is very poor quality and even worse customer service. They do not stand by their products. I had purchased the 8” jointer CX08HC. Straight out of the box it needed to be aligned. Not a huge problem as this could be expected. I would follow the manuals directions to align the jointer beds. After several days of attempts, I came to the conclusion that there could be another issue with the machine that would not allow alignment. I called Busy Bee few days after the purchase to have the machine brought back for alignment. The machine was brought back to the Busy Bee location in Ottawa so it could be sent back to the Toronto warehouse for repair. 3 weeks later I got a call that the jointer was fixed and I had a few hours of labour to pay for. I laughed off the part of having to pay for a repair job on a defective machine. Before spending more money on transporting this heavy machine back and forth I would show up at the Ottawa location with a straight edge and feeler gauges before excepting it back. In the 1st & 2nd picture I show 5000th of an inch easily sliding under the in-feed and out-feed table. The 3rd picture shows a square in the middle of the fence that does not allow my thinnest feeler gauge through. 4th picture shows 6000th of an inch would slide through the bottom portion of the square. This jointer is clearly not aligned, It’s twisted. A video was made and sent to customer service as I now requested a refund. Customer service ignored my emails and calls for awhile. Then Chris from customer service reached out to explain the jointer was perfectly aligned when it left their shop. Chris implied the jointer must have fell out of alignment after I transported it back to my shop. I informed Chris the jointer never left the Ottawa Busy Bee location. Chris then said he will have to call me back. A week later Chris returns my call and states he can not trust my brand new straight edge in the video. Funny thing is I use a Busy Bee square in the video as well. The next phone conversation with Chris he explained that 6000th of an inch is their acceptable factory tolerance. I explained to Chris that it’s not possible to straighten lumber on a jointer this much out. I asked Chris to inform me the factory tolerances so I can have it on record. Chris got very temperamental when I requested this and said “I don’t have to tell you anything” before hanging up. This phone conversation was on November 1, 2021 at a approximately 11:30am.
