Fence-All

Although the job we needed was very small, just a railing on a back step, Fence-All treated this like it was just as important as other much more profitable jobs. The estimator arrived on time and was so knowledgeable, discussing all options available to us. Timeline for install was within the approximate time frame discussed. And we are very happy with the final result, we love the new railing, not only is it very secure and sturdy but its also very stylish. The next project will be a new fence in a few years and we will definitely be contacting Fence-All for that as well! - WOMO Certified Review

I just had a new deck installed by Fence-All a few weeks ago. I have to say that the whole process from the initial sales contact through the completion of the deck was top-notch. I initially contacted Fence-All late in the summer for an estimate and met with Mike. We wanted to replace our two level deck with a footprint of roughly 14' x 22'. He was very personable and professional and provide the quote for the work very quickly. We had quotes from several other companies and even without saving HST by paying up front, the quote from Fence-All was far and away the most competative. Mike had indicated that the deck would probably be started around the third week of November, weather permitting based on the projects they were already working on. We were quite happy when Andrea (the Customer Experience Manager) let us know that work would start on October 25. Andrea was very quick to respond to any questions I had and was great at updating us on timelines throughout the process. I have to reserve my highest praise to the gentlemen who built the deck. On the last day of the project, the gentleman who installed the railings (I can't remember his name) showed up exactly on time and installed all of the railings for the upper deck and stairs in roughly 5 hours - and they look great. I had been expecting a crew to show up to build my deck after the screw piles had been installed. I was surprised when only Phil showed up to work on the deck. My surprise turned to amazement as I watched Phil work over 3 days. The man was a deck building machine. Everything he did was precise, well thought out and looked great when it was finished. My neighbor had a single level deck of roughly the same dimensions installed last year and with a team of 3 it took them 5 days. Phil put our deck together in 3 days by himself and it was a sight to behold. As you can see, I was very pleased with the whole process and definitely overjoyed with the final product. I would definitely recommend Fence-All to anyone considering installing a deck. Mike Bernard

Our fence and gate were just completed by last week, and we had a fantastic experience. After getting quotes this past fall from a few companies and either being totally shocked by the quote or never getting the quote in writing (which actually happened with our first fence all sales person) I called Fence All again in the spring and explained my situation. I got through right away, and they apologized over the phone and sent me their sales person, Mike that same week. Mike was great, quick and sent me the quote the same day. He warned us it would be early August that our fence would be installed (he had come out in April) and we were okay with that. We paid in advance to save on the tax and waited. We were pleasantly surprised when we were contacted in mid July that Dan and his crew would be coming by the following week. Dan and his crew were on time, kind, and kept me informed about what was going on. It took 2 full days worth of work, and the posts had to settle, and we had rain that week. They started on a Monday and I was enjoying my new fenced in backyard after work on that Friday! Mike, Dan (and his crew), and Andrea were fantastic to deal with, and I am truly happy with the work that was done. Looking forward to connecting with them again to replace the rest of our fence in the coming years!

Fence All never came down for measurements and estimate review. They sent the contractors straight to work. I missed 2 feet in my measurement so they charged me $800 extra. We agreed about putting in a gate but the contractors weren't aware about it. I had to pay the extra $800 for the gate. The lumber they use is very cheap quality. Mike was a terrible sales person. He was very rude on the phone and was unwilling to negotiate even though they made a mistake. I don't recommend this company. Stay away!!!!! I will never ever use their services again.

Great experience when they did my fence. Friendly and responsive staff sent competent workers who had excellent craftsmanship in their work for our pressure treated fence. After 2 years since being installed, no issues whatsoever. Highly recommended!

Fence-All did a great job. Our deck looks fantastic. They installed it quickly and were very professional. It even snowed one morning and they put up a tent and continued working. I would highly recommend them

We were very pleased with our experience with Fence-All. Todd came out quickly to provide an estimate for fencing the back of our property in cedar, and the job was actually completed ahead of the projected date. Roger and his crew were prompt, professional, and skilled; in fact, their skill was awe-inspiring. As it happens, another part of our fence (not the new part) was blown down in the big storm that hit Ottawa on May 21st, and we've already gotten in touch with them to get it replaced. We heartily recommend Fence-All!

10/26/2021 Update - Fence All has made attempts to resolve my issues including installing a step which is appreciated. The office seems to understand customer experience better than our sales rep so I'd recommend contacting them over the sales rep if you encounter issues. Unfortunately we had a gas technician confirm a leak in the line so we're now waiting for a permanent fix to be put in place. Original Review - First off, I'd like to say that the initial part of the project with Mike (Sales rep) went fine. He met us to discuss the project and we told him what we wanted. A few days later he presented an estimate which was fine for the first draft. Our design was already done by another vendor where we had 3D render created so there wasn't much to discuss as far as design choices go since we already knew what we wanted. We changed a few things but the overall design/concept didn't change much. The issues first started when the installers showed up with the wrong design. I work from home and discovered this after a few hours since I noticed there weren't enough posts in the ground to support the structure. After I pointed this out they called the office and were given the most recent version. Work continued and after 3 days they completed the deck with the exception of the railings and privacy screen which would take another 4 weeks to arrive. Upon inspection of the "completed" deck, there were some minor issues I pointed out which included a cutting mistake of the composite in a particular spot as well as a detached bracket for our natural gas line that I’m assuming was removed to make room for the stairs (no one asked me or told me the gas line would be touched/moved at any part of the project). The location of the stairs was in the exact same spot as the old deck stairs and everything fit fine before. The lower part of the deck was also built to a height of 12" off the ground when it should have been 8" as per our design plan. We emailed Mike about our concerns and he quoted us another ~$950 (after tax) to add in a step. Not being happy to pay more for something Fence-All built incorrectly, I told him how I felt and Mike arranged an onsite inspection to review the work. When he got there, he dismissed the cutting issue and the detached bracket quickly saying he would feed the information back to the installation department but ultimately shrugged it off as nothing. He then said the height of the lower deck was based on the number of stairs they put in from the upper deck and since they put in the right number of steps, the height was fine even though it was 50% taller than what it should have been. He also said he doesn’t remember telling us about the 8” height even though we have email records where he specifically confirmed this. The steps on the stairs should have been 7 3/8” each but when measured, they are less than 7” which contributes to the incorrect height of the lower platform. Before Mike left, he said it was too early on a Monday morning to discuss my issues and to send him the email where he confirmed the 8” height but ultimately he said if we want the step we have to pay for it. After he left, I inspected the gas line again and noticed not only did they detach the bracket to fit the stairs (and never reattached it) but they also relocated the entire gas line about 2 inches below the original location. They also completely bent one of the brackets which could have only been done with brute force which makes me nervous since it’s an active gas line. Since there were never any discussions on changing or modifying the gas line, I don’t know even know if they are licensed to modify it. At this point, I’m giving Fence-All a final opportunity to make this right before I file a formal complaint with the BBB. I’m giving them 1 star because they did not build the deck to the specifications we approved and now they are asking for more money to install an additional step that we shouldn’t need if it been built correctly.
