Went to apply for a credit card only to be told that for the one I wanted, I don't meet the requirements. Then filled out the credit card application online when I got home, was approved for the card they said I couldn't get before the card THEY recommended me had even responded with an approval or not. Branch manager and staff do not know what "household income" means. They seem to think it means husband and wife, or spouses, which is grossly out of touch with todays living situations. I don't want to think how many people they persuaded off that card because they don't know the correct information. The BMO website even defines household income differently then the Branch Manager and his staff. Showed them the definition. They still told me otherwise. Very upset.

Please fire your security guard. That girl was always swiping her phone and not even locking the door properly with a key. What if I had a mini gun hiding in my coat? She won’t notice anything. All she was doing was sliding the door whenever someone came in and sliding it again when someone left the branch. Other branches have 2-3 male security guards switching in a day and they DO lock the door properly. Stop wasting your money like this. Your branch need more tellers not just 2 newbies also not useless guard.

Difficult to contact the branch directly. Have to leave a message and wait for a response. States will contact by end of day. The call is also re directed to a call centre if u want to speak to someone but have to wait again. So frustrating dealing with BMO. There is definitely no customer advantage. They want u to use direct banking. It’s not the representatives fault it’s the BMO strategy to get rid of customer service. My time is valuable too and I don’t want to do everything online and I don’t want to wait all day for a call back. So BMO hire people to answer the phone. One star rating is too much. I would have given half a star if the option was available.

I want to open a student account so I called to the bank customer service yesterday morning. Customer service told me no need to make an appointment and just walk in any branch. I lined up in this branch for more than 20 minutes and the teller said that this branch was very busy and told me to another branch which was 10 minutes driving away. She was very impolite and just wanted to push me away. I drove 12 minutes to another branch which was located at third line and Dundas West and the teller was helpful. She helped me to make an appointment the other day. I ended up drove several minutes to CIBC bank and walk in open an account with easy peasy. Moreover CIBC bank has a promotion of $60 to student who open an account. So don’t waste your time to BMO if you want to open an account, it pushes customers away.

Been a loyal BMO Mastercard World Elite customer for years and decided to open a BMO savings account at this branch. Was turned away by the manager and advised that I had to schedule a meeting next week. Terrible customer service. Then immediately drove down to the BMO Oakville Place branch and had my account opened right away. Now that's customer service!

The teller I spoke with yesterday was very rude and she provided me with wrong information on overseas ATM transaction fee. When I found out different information from BMO website, I had to travel back to this branch to verify which information is right between the one on the website and the one the teller provided with. I met with the same teller and told her that the information on the website is different from what she told me. She took my debit card and searched my information on the terminal and blamed me of having a sort of 'grandfather account' which was the reason why she could not find right information on the overseas ATM transaction fee. Even she passed the responsibility of providing wrong information to her coworker who whispered her that information. She never apologized for giving me the wrong information and having me travel to this branch to verify the information. I have been customer to BMO for the last tweleve years but this experience made me think to close all my business with BMO.
