I visited this clinic in December 2020, and today I feel like I am ready to talk about my experience. I was referred to this clinic by the hospital I was supposed to go to but they didn’t have an appointment for me until the following week. I was so scared to get the D&C procedure done, but I am so happy I went to this Clinic. Everyone here was so nice and comforting. I remember before going in I had to sit down with the Counsellor and she was great, she calmed me down as I was super nervous. The Doctor and the nurses were amazing. Made me feel very comfortable and the Nurse even held my hand during the procedure. As soon as I was given the IV it literally felt like 2 min had passed and I was done. So grateful for everyone in this office who made me feel so good and cared for on one of my worst days.

The staff at this clinic at every point of care were extremely caring and professional. I felt informed and empowered in my choice. They were very understanding of the fact that I required extra sedation. I felt like there were no judgments against me for any lifestyle choices. I couldn’t recommend this clinic enough!!! The kindness I experienced was above and beyond. Safe and easy abortion, plus an IUD insertion in the same appointment! So happy with your care, ladies. Thank you for providing easy, safe, and professional BC access to the community, ladies! ??

I came in yesterday for a surgical abortion and had an appointment at 1:45pm. Although I felt anxious when signing all of the paperwork and waiting in the waiting room, the counsellor (I believe her name was Sara), as well as the nurses were truly amazing and made me feel extremely comfortable throughout my whole appointment. At the time of the surgical procedure, I was sooo nervous for the pain, however I found that the IV sedation and anesthetic helped significantly. The procedure did not cause me much irritation at all (which was surprising considering I have a low pain tolerance), as it mostly felt like mild cramping for 5 minutes. I also got an IUD insertion after the abortion which also felt like mild cramping, and then it was done! The post op nurse was honestly so kind as well, and she offered everyone with cookies, water, ginger ale, and a heating pad. Despite the fact that I had been feeling hopeless and overwhelmed when finding out about my unplanned pregnancy, the women at bloor west village women's clinic made me feel exceptionally supported and cared for throughout my whole stay :)

I attended this clinic last week, for what was (unfortunately) my second abortion. Due to my experience at the first clinic I attended which was different, I was extremely uncomfortable and very nervous to go through that again. When I looked up BWVWC's website, I liked that it seemed pleasant and kind, and was extremely informative. You could self refer, and it placed A LOT of emphasis on self care after your appointment, recognizing that this choice could have some impacts on a patients' mental wellbeing despite it being a choice they were making, This was what made me choose to come to this clinic. The atmosphere and staff at BWVWC quickly made me realize my experience would be different this time. Everyone from reception to the doctor were fantastic. They kindly answered any questions without judgement. The counsellor was extremely informative and did not make me feel guilty for this being my second time. I explained that with the first, I was placed on a waitlist for IUD insertion and haven't been able to get an appointment yet. She was genuinely compassionate regarding my previous experience and told me they place an IUD at this appointment. I quickly ran down to the pharmacy to fill my prescription and my appointment was underway shortly after. The nurses in the procedure room were clearly experienced as they had no issues with the IV insertion. They were chatting with me during the procedure which made it go by even faster. The doctor was kind and explained what would happen during the procedure and it was over in less than 5 minutes. I was then escorted to a different room where I was given a drink and a snack while I was monitored for 15 minutes before I left. They ensured I had an acceptable way home, and off I went. I would recommend this clinic to anyone, it was judgement free, pain free and instrumental in my emotional healing process to not be treated with disgust or scoffed at for my choices. There are some negative reviews on here and I personally don't feel they reflect how my experience was at the clinic. This is an EXTREMELY difficult time for patients attending the clinic and everyone can react or interpret things differently due to this. I was seen within my 3 hour window, there was some waiting but as a former medical professional, we don't know what's happening behind the doors, there could be any number of reasons why your appointment may take longer than expected. I also suspect that some of the horror stories are from folks who do not agree with the services this clinic provides and may be trying to scare women out of making the choice that we are exploring when looking up this clinic. You are all strong, brave, beautiful and loved. Please keep that in mind and make the best choice for you. Peace and love everyone <3

I was very nervous to come to the clinic... But the staff were all amazing.... The doctor Is actually a really chill lady... The one nurse didn't laugh at my joke... But that's okay. I also had a chance to talk to a couple girls in the outpatient area... They were both fine and said it wasn't bad either. I proceeded with the medical option and for anyone Considering it... It was not easier by any means ... Well not for me anyways.... Good Luck ladies ?you are all loved

I went here back in August and I had a very supportive appointment. I didn’t experience any pain and was never uncomfortable. I got free ginger ale and was never rushed out and very well taken care of. I absolutely recommend this place, and if you were hoping to get an IUD. Get it here while you have IV pain medication. Thank you!

If you read this comment I would like to tell you already that I am sorry for what is happening to you, I am myself in the same state and know the pain that we are experiencing… I was recommended this clinic by the early pregnancy hospital, and reading the reviews I realized that the girls going through the same situation felt comforted when going in that place, so I made an appointment. My appointment was at 11am and finished at 1pm. I had to wait until almost noon in the waiting room, then a doctor came and comforted me and explained the procedure, then you are going to prepare for the operation, a nurse comes to pick you up and sets you up for the surgery, a surgeon comes next and carries out the operation (the total care takes 10 minutes). When the operation is finished, you will be accompanied to a rest room where you will be given drinks and cookies, so long as you feel ready to go home. I recommend this place, the staff is very kind, nice and the clinic is clean!

The staff at this clinic made what I thought would be a terrifying experience a very positive one. I was in & out within an hour for my procedure. The councillor was very laid back and made me feel very supported in being there. She made it clear she was open to discussing any concerns or feelings but did not push any conversation when I said I was comfortable with my decision and did not have any questions. The nurse in the recovery area was also very kind and laid back, nobody made you feel like you were doing anything shameful. The medications given to me before the procedure made me just zoned out and relaxed enough that I was hardly aware of the procedure happening. I felt no pain during or after. Aside from being tired for the day, I felt totally back to my usual self. Very minimal spotting and no cramping for the following days. I felt so much relief with my decision after I left. Thank you again to a great staff for providing care to women like myself.
