My husband and I stayed here for our wedding anniversary. It is a great little spot. We stayed in one of the cabins and it was perfect. Went out on a canoe one day, and they offered a nice recommendation for dinner. We would definitely stay here again.

Quiet atmosphere, clean and well equipped cabins. Beautifully landscaped property with some very private units, all overlooking lake Huron. Reliable service and decent pricing. Visited as a couple and with extended family in tow on several occasions.

Short story. Nice place for the price and you can rent for less than 7 days at a time. We took two young kids and had a blast. Long story. The owners were nice and helpful. We rented a kayak and took kids for a ride. The unit was clean and comfortable. Didn't have a fire due to fire ban but looked like that would have been fun. There's a nice sand pile with toys back from the water for the kids to play on. There's a grocery store about 10min away in nearby town. Would stay there again.

The outside and scenery was beautiful and breathtaking. The views were great. Inside our cabin there was smell that was a big turn off. It smelled stale. I had to spray stuff and keep windows open to get it out and even then it never disappeared. Everything is outdated and just not very appealing to the eye. Only thing that was nice was the wall art. The door handle to come inside the cabin kept falling off, the broom was broken, the heater kept turning off because of the wind so it got cold, microwave plug didn't work ( we had to use our own extension cord to plug in elsewhere ) , there was dirty floors behind my bed and if you walked around the property it turned into a giant junk yard ( litterly ) i am so suprised this place has so many stars to begin with. I'm sure it once was nice but it's not worth the money anymore. Definitely don't recommend and Definitely will be back to the island ,but not this place. So much potential here, but the owner seems to just not care or get the proper help. Such a shame.

Late in the season for RV'ing but Black Rock Resort was there to provide all we needed. Karen is a lovely host and provided us with great information about the Island that led to us staying an extra night. It was mid October though and most people aren't out anymore for the season but it was great to have a nice quiet camp ground with all of the amenities we required.

We wanted to check out Manitoulin island and was able to book a cottage at Black Rock resort a couple of weeks prior to our trip. We chose this resort as it got a 4.3 rating on google reviews and the description on their website sounded like an ideal place. I have to begin by saying the website is deceiving, misleading and inaccurate. It says there is free wifi - which there isn’t and we only found out upon arrival, it describes the resort as rustic chic - which it isn’t, the resort is rustic, as in old and dated, but not chic, it says there is a private beach which is in fact a small area with sand and the rate I was quoted on the site was wrong and was listed lower than the actual cost. When we first arrived we were told the cottage we booked was going to be given to another customer - which we found very unprofessional. The key to the front door of our cottage was lost and Karen, the owner had to replace it the next day. The grounds were covered in goose poo all over the grounds which we were a bit grossed out by. There we’re new windows, new front door and appliances but the rest of the cottage was dated and old. There were stains on the sofas, the mattresses were old and dated. We were told we had to take all of our garbage back with us when we left which we were fine with, but we’re taken aback when we were told we had to take all recycling back with us as well except for beer cans and empty alcohol bottles. We found that to be a big turn off and a bit greedy. I have to say the lake is beautiful and the view from our cottage was pristine and It was very quiet and peaceful. Manitoulin island is a beautiful place to visit and we enjoyed our time exploring the island.

Rustic old cottage rental. Pro is the 10min proximity to the Freshmart grocery store, LCBO, easy parking and overall a good base if you want to explore Manitoulin Island for a few days. Cons are the absence of bed sheets, towels and pillows because of Covid. We were charged $10 for each of these items. In fairness to Karen, it’s in the fine print of the booking. Internet connection is poor but you can tether from your cell phone. Rogers/Bell/Telus customers should not have any trouble on Zoom calls. Our group of 4 split the cost of a large 3-bedroom cabin which made it very affordable. Easy dock entry for kayaking and swimming but goose poop around. Expect bugs and mosquitoes ? in the summer months. Cabin Showers were good and you can drink the water. Decent laundry facilities on site at $2.50 per load. Overall the site is not amazing, but not bad. I would definitely consider staying again. Bring a picnic table cloth, dock and indoor slippers and all your toiletries. Good fridge and kitchen utensils provided for easy indoor cooking and food storage. Cooking steaks ? over a wood fire was awesome! 3.5 stars ⭐️ out of 5.

Karen was a great host & it was so great to finally be back on Manitoulin Island. All the updates to the cabin were amazing & was so great to relax & listen to water while the kid's played & at night hearing the crackling of the fire. My family had such a wonderful time visiting & we didn't want to return home. But now are planning our next trip back.
