★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I needed some thermal paste to install a CPU and even though the store had just closed, they still sold me a tube of thermal paste for $5 cash. Thanks for not being stuck up jerks.
UPDATE
Bill and Dave did some work on a system of mine which turned out well. however, I had a processor that was the wrong one for the motherboard that I bought which I ended up with afterwards and they offered to sell it for me. Thinking that they were upstanding members of society and that they wanted to have a good name for their business, I accepted their offer in good faith. One year later and I have no processor and an offer for about less than half of the value of the processor. I was under the impression that they were going to sell it for market value and give me the proceeds, not sell it for market value and then pocket a few hundred dollars for themselves. Sometimes I will send them a message and wait months for a response. Not cool guys, I guess you really are B.A.D. business people.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Play very loud music for hours on end disrupting businesses around them. Politely buzzed at their entrance and asked them to turn the music down. They said no problem, then proceeded to keep playing loud music at same volume. Made fun of the fact I was wearing a mask at their entrance (we can hear your comments through the walls, yes you are that loud).
As a CHEO employee I expect at least a little decency and consideration as that is exactly what I would give you, no matter the situation.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great service - another place said I’d have to replace the whole keyboard on my laptop because of one broken key, without properly looking at the issue. Bill & Dave’s sourced the key, resulting in a much lower cost fix. Nice people & good communication.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Poor communication and missed deadlines. They forgot about my device for about 2.5 weeks when I first dropped it off (I appreciate them being honest about that), then their supplier sent an incorrect part, then they failed to provide a quote for repair by the date they set for themselves. Their online portal was rarely updated and consistently out of date, and it took multiple texts typically over about a week to hear back by text. I generally felt their priority was their corporate clients. They were nice and Suki was helpful, but I won't be going back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ When my wife's MacBook Pro died a few months ago (without a recent backup) we realized we are in trouble and will never get her files back. The laptop in question has a non-removable SSD drive that is permanently soldered onto the main logic board with no way of removing it to recover the files (according to the Apple 'Genius' bar technician). Apple repair offered to replace the logic board, which would mean a brand new, blank SSD would be installed, and all our files lost. In addition, Apple would NOT return the old logic board to us, so we could try to have the files recovered elsewhere!!!
Then, I found out about Bill & Dave (by recommendation from a Canada Computers employee). I contacted them and they took my laptop the same day. I paid for the "rush" service, which means, your computer will be looked at within 24-48 hours, not repaired in that time frame. It took about 7 days and I had an external hard-drive with a full "time machine" backup of the laptop, and ALL our files perfectly recovered.
I cannot thank Bill & Dave enough for this service. We have prepared ourself to have 2 years-worth of files lost, and learned an important lesson to have a regular, automated backup (no matter how new your computer is).
I read some reviews of people complaining about the poor communication from Bill & Dave and that their portal with the repair status is not updated regularly. I do agree that the repair status portal was not being updated as often as I'd have liked to see. However, every time I picked up the phone and called them, someone answered and provided me a status update. I appreciate how busy they are and agree that they need to improve the way they communicate the repair status, but that is a minor issue since they came through for me and got the job done perfectly... Thank you guys!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was challenging to fix my 5-years-old iPhone as Apple no longer has parts for this model. Finding a place with knowledgeable and honest staff can be challenging too, and it's very lucky for us to find Bill & Dave and go with them.
I didn't know that I needed to give them the passcode to my phone the first night I visited, and I didn't feel comfortable giving it as a lot of privacy it carries. The technician who talked with us was very understanding and told us it was OK to change our minds. The second day I reset my phone and dropped it to them again. It took longer than they expected to detect the problem and eventually fix it, but they kept us posted at every stage of the repair, and the communication was very clear and effective. We got the repaired phone after 3 or 4 hours, it was fully repaired and functions very well.
The warranty they offered together with the repair is great too. I accidentally dropped my phone the next week and caused the same problem. I contacted them and they quickly fixed it for only ten minutes, and Bill also gave me a lot of great tips.
THE SHORT VERSION: Great service, amazing staff, effective communication, perfect result. I will go with them again and recommend them to everyone.
