I had the pleasure of dealing with Lorenzo and Sid for a vintage turntable which had two faults. Both of which were repaired perfectly and I was dealt professionally by both people. I highly recommend Bench Magic for your electronic needs

I asked that my vacuum tube amplifier was needed for repair. (It was because the volume control was replaced and the volume was too low. I purchased the part) After a month, I got a call from the owner the repair was completed. I asked because I couldn't test if it was fixed there. Are you really sure this has been fixed? He said he was sure, believed, paid $200 to repair and brought the amplifier. However, the condition was the same, so nothing was fixed. Even though I was busy, I called and visited again. What I really wanted to fix was because the volume was low, but do you get $200 just to replace the power nozzle and say everything is fixed? He said he tested the inside of the amp, cleaned the amp, and thinks maybe the tube is wrong. He asked for $200 replacing the power nozzle, so now how much more would they ask for tubes replacement? And I asked you mean replacing all of the eight tubes without telling you which one is wrong? he said he have to buy parts because they don't have vacuum tubes... Honestly, I can't believe this kind of diagnosis. 1. They charge too much money for simple tasks such as replacing a power nozzle. (I purchase the part because my tube amp is a old amplifier), and cleaning the inside of the amplifier and testing. 2. It wasn't even repaired, but he said it was repaired, and said that the vacuum tubes should be replaced. Then, out of the eight, it is said that there is no choice but to purchase and test without telling which one is wrong. I can’t sleep now because I am upset. 1. claim number: 37761181 2.so i dont see 2 hours charge for cleaning and do the entire assembly and disassembly being an over charge.(But I can still see many spider webs inside the amp so I cannot be sure you cleaned or not) 3.the technician said he does not have a test machine. so he will buy tubes and replace them and then he knows which tube is wrong. I am afraid if you buy to replace tubes It would be very expensive. and We don't know exactly the tube's problem. I think at least you should be able to say which of the 8 tubes is wrong. 3.Business card calls are not allowed and the store says you are not there.

Update: Everything as promised, quality workmanship and Brian and Lori are nice friendly people. Worth the drive from Vancouver, as a musician with gear its nice that I don't have to shop around for this kind of service any more! ........... So Far So Good, great service on the phone pricing that makes sense! Thank-you Bench Magic

Brian was excellent! He helped me analyze a problem on my washing machine circuit board through pictures emailed to him. He took 10 minutes on the phone explaining what had happened also letting me know repair was probably not feasible. Ultimately, he recommended the purchase of a replacement. I appreciate the time taken and the honesty. I will definitely go back to BenchMagic should another circuit board problem arise.

I took my turntable in for a speaker repair. They took $50.00 up front and told me it would be one week. After thirteen working days and because I could not get an answer by phone I went to pick up the turntable and although they said it was ready, the technician did not have an invoice prepared for me and had to call his boss. I waited close to 20 minutes and when the boss arrived, there was some discussion between him and the technician that prompted the boss to give me my turntable free of any charge (over and above my initial $50 deposit). I am not sure what transpired, as they did employ another language, but I am not happy as the turntable is working but not 100% as the turntable will not turn off when you remove the needle and tone arm from the record. It worked when I took it in. Lorenzo said to bring it back in and they will fix it at no charge.I am reluctant to do so as the shop is quite dirty and looks very disorganized.

I took my drone there and the guy was like yeah yeah I can fix it. Plus, he charged me $150 up front. After 3 weeks of not returning my calls and when I get there, some old guy didn’t even know what I was talking about, scary, right? Not only I didn’t even get my drone fixed, the guy ripped me off for the $150. If this sounds good to you then go ahead step through those doors, if not avoid it. Oh, and I read the reviews that’s what took me there. But, this was the old owner(he died recently), used to be honest, not anymore. Not returning calls, not being honest. Also, when I was there a customer was asking for a receipt and all he got was a piece of paper and a few words on there: β€œcustomer paid.” This does not look like a proper business receipt. Stay away from this place, in my experience there are better ones out there avoid this one. Hope this helps someone so they don’t get ripped off. The end led owner was good, not anymore.

I will think twice of going back to this place. Wasted my $50 for no work at all! A defective key only requiring a pad to be replaced, but I'm forced to do a cleaning job of $200 before the pad is changed. Check out some youtube videos, you may be able to fix it yourself. And I just checked to find a white key is not working properly, which was working fine before. I beg to differ. Can you be a bit more specific on how I was disrespectful? My keyboard had an issue with one key and that is that it is loud no matter how softly you touch the key. Why can't this be repaired without having to clean? The unit is pretty tight and I don't think there will be much dust. You have refused to fix the issue without me agreeing to do the cleaning as well.

Worst place ever! The worst part of all is the guy who answers the phone who says he is some kind of professional. The guys who actually work in the store are nice gentlemen. Unfortunately they work for a guy who has tried to capitalize on the good name and reputation of the former owner Brian. I am a musician who was recommended to Brian who when still alive had an affinity for vintage amps and a personal love for electronics in general. This new owner has no idea about customer service amplifiers electronic equipment or simple courtesy. If you read the "good" recent reviews on Google you be able to easily identify that there is some sort of scam going on here. Believe the bad reviews because that is how this place rolls now. Do not bring anything of value to this crook. The repairs are archaic at best. Mike
