About Beck Veterinary Clinic Ltd

Meaghan joined her spouse in Edmonton in December, 2020 and started working at Beck Veterinary Clinic in January, 2021. She is a second-generation vet tech after graduating from the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Veterinary Technology program in 2015. Prior to moving to Edmonton, she worked at a canine/feline practice in Saskatoon, in shelter medicine at the Saskatoon SPCA, and teaching in the vet tech program at Saskpolytech. From a horse racing family, she has always worked with animals including positions at veterinary practices in Stilwell, Kansas, Toronto, Ontario, and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Most recently, Meaghan has started teaching again at NAIT in the Animal Health Technology program.

Meaghan enjoys competing in dog sports with her spaniel mix Beryllium (Rill) and Pomeranian Tusk Snowbeast (Tusk). Both have titles in Barn Hunt, Trailing & Locating (NASDA), and Urban Locating (NASDA). Of their two cats, Charlemagne (Bean) has previously competed in the household pet class in ACFA shows but is now retired. Gilgamesh (Gilly) is a Scottish Fold that decided to remain a house pet.

In her spare time, Meaghan enjoys cross country skiing, running, reading, and a variety of fiber-based crafts including knitting, sewing, and shuttle tatting.

Both very knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. Always followed up after major appointments to see how the dogs were doing. Can't recommend enough.
G	Greg Goa on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It was a difficult day as we had to euthanize our cat due to kidney failure. We have mostly been working with Dr. Torkelson through this but he is away this week. Dr. Beck made the experience as peaceful as possible and he was calming to have around during the process. Unfortunately we had to put our other cat down nine months ago and I can say doing the procedure with Dr. Beck was as good as you could hope for under such circumstances. Our sweet little cat passed on with a gentle purr and a sigh of relief. The couple of negative reviews this vet has, I think are unwarranted. The prices are very reasonable and I’ve been to a few different vets in my day. Both Dr. Thorkelson and Dr. Beck are excellent, caring, and clearly love animals. Highly recommended.

He took the time to explain the risks/benefits of neutering and was very evidence based in his explanation. We’re so happy to have found this great clinic for our pup!

Dr. Beck came out to talk to us multiple times and even called us the next day to see if our dog was feeling better. But what has made an even greater impression with them is that when we called to make an appmt for our dog's ear infection, they had no availability and the earliest was about 9 days later. We were quite worried because untreated ear infection could get worse and everything we read said to get to a vet and no home remedies. We know vets are busy lately due to increase number of pet owner so likely any vet had slots was low. This morning, the Beck Vet called us and said if we are ok with our dog hanging out at the vet, they will try to see him in between patients. Words cannot describe how amazing and caring this vet clinic is and their vets. I truly believe they care about the animals that come to their clinics and also the people who love their animals. I highly recommend this place and have only high praises for them!!! Btw, Milo looks like he is so much better and more comfortable than he has been in a while. Can't thank Dr. Beck and his team enough.

We moved away for several years, the moment we were back in town we reconnected with the Beck clinic.

We brought our newly adopted cat for his first visit and I was pleasantly surprised by how warm and friendly the front staff were from the get go (we chatted about the benefits of orange cats during my first call). They were also very accommodating when I realized I had left the EHS health records at home, even though it was entirely my fault for being a scatterbrain. Dr. Torkelson was also very friendly and attentive to our questions, which made us feel comfortable. He made a point of telling us that our cat was a good cat which was appreciated! Fitzy's visit was easy and stress free. I would recommend this clinic for your pet's health.
