I've taken several acting classes in my life and none have so prepared me with the tools, attitudes, and sheer breadth of knowledge that the ones that Marvin so excellently runs. Having never before acted for the camera, I came into Marvin's class with absolutely no experience. I came away with a stable reservoir of techniques to fall back on when pursuing my career. Less than half a year later, I was signed on to an agency. I can say, without a doubt, that it was the principles and philosophy of Marvin's camera class that got me in the door, through the audition, and beyond. Marvin pairs academic study with practical application in a way that is both extremely challenging and deeply insightful. Each class began with an explanation of principles and concepts, followed by scenework and technical analysis. I never felt shortchanged, and Marvin always spends enough time with each student. If you are interested in acting for the camera, if you are interested in acting professionally, and if you are interested in developing and honing your craft, I can say nothing more than this: TAKE THIS CLASS!

Marvin's class was an excellent refresher for actors who have been out in the business. I enjoyed the process he shared as it gave many gentle reminders back towards a grounded, solid and unfailing technique for developing a scene and creating a successful audition. He is an honest teacher and will guide you with constructive criticism that creates a positive atmosphere for his students to help them excel and grow.

I have known Marvin Karon for almost ten years and I never cease to be amazed at what he is able to draw out of students in his acting classes. He has so much knowledge and experience and an inimitable style that cannot help but make the people who study with him be more effective. Marvin has an incredible ability to read through a script and bring it to life in a compelling and unique way. I have worked with Marvin in his workshops and one on one for audition prep. His passion and energy always leads to finding new, more interesting nuances that I had originally missed or had not discovered myself. His script analysis is creative and insightful, and will no doubt bring depth and authenticity to the work of his students.

I sat in one of Marvin Karon's On-Camera Workshops a few months ago and after auditing one class I immediately sent him an email and asked for semi-private lessons. I also attended his next On-Camera Workshop for the month of August. I had such a great experience! I came from a hosting background so what I thought was a "normal" tone and energy was actually too much for on-camera acting. Marvin helped me adjust and taught me how to trust the camera and really see my partner. During class, I noticed how much my classmates improved after Marvin gave his suggestions from rehearsal to final take. EVERYONE got better as the weeks went by. Our workshop just ended last week, but I am still signing up for semi-private classes with Marvin. He really made me see the value of continuously working on your craft.

I trained with Marvin for about 5 years prior to moving to L.A. I can say without a doubt that he is the go-to acting coach in Toronto. The most incredible thing about Marvin is his ability to analyze scripts. He is a master detective. There would be scenes I had spent countless hours on, analyzing the subtext and tactics involved with my character. I would hand the text to Marvin and tell him the discoveries I had made, and in less than one minute of him looking over the page he would have a barrage of new ideas and discoveries that I simply missed. This comes from his wealth of knowledge about the medium of the camera and the artistry involved behind acting. His class is also perfect for actors with strong Theater backgrounds that are seeking to transition off of the stage, and learning how to make compelling story-telling come to life in front of the camera. Where Marvin really stood out to me, was in his selfless care about his students' progress in their careers as actors. He went out of his way several times to make a phone call to people involved in my career to vouch for me and my abilities as an actor. "Acting 4 the Camera" is something Marvin holds very dear - he cares about the success of the students that come out to train with him and he cares about the quality of the class. That, combined with his own skill as an actor and his ability to teach the knowledge that he possesses, creates for the best acting class in Toronto. Marvin has also been an inspiration outside of the acting world - he is one of the most honest and noble human beings on this planet, and he cares about making the world a better place. And that is definitely a feat for anyone pursuing a career in the harsh entertainment industry, especially after such a long time. But Marvin has kept his honor. Thank you for everything you have done Marvin. You have always been an inspiration to me!

Marvin Karon, there are countless of positive things that I have to say. Words cannot express how much I adore being apart of his classes. I have taken numerous of acting classes before taking Marvin's classes. I have studied in many different drama schools, taken endless acting classes and I couldn't stop thinking what a valuable training I received from Marvin. Moreover, I am convinced that this class is well suited for any level of training or any method style actor. Here at his studio and his teaching style, he is up to date to scenes, on camera training, in real shooting situations and much more.
