THE COUNTRY WIFE a presentation by George Brown Theatre at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts. The piece was very funny and charming. This was an excellent performance, stage and costume design by the graduating class of 2013/2014 from George Brown College. It was very interesting how they mixed old and new elements. The play is very old written in 1675, I honestly had a hard time following the old English but as an spectator I was never lost, the performers did a great job to display with their expression what was going on. The stage and costume design was very creative there was a mix of old elements such as shoes and wigs while some of the other elements like the fashion were modern. My favorite characters were Mr Horner, the player, who kept all the woman on the town busy and of course Mr. Pinchwife and Mrs Margery Pinchwife…excellent job.

My 4 friends and I have been subscribers to Soulpepper Theatre for years and have really enjoyed the site as well as most productions. Lately, however, the Classics, which they used to produce, have been replaced by obscure pieces. Last nights production of" Noises Off" was the worst play that I have ever seen. We, as well as many others, suffered through the first Act and left. We couldn't stand the play nor the screaming cast. Terrible!!!

We had an amazing time. Small, cozy theatre and the performing Company was fantastic. The bar is well stock and you can enjoy a drink before or after your play

We only discovered the distillery district towards the end of our holiday. We'd been to some of the big theatres, and apart from "War Horse" which was stunningly brilliant, our next favourite would have to be Neil Simon's "The Good Time Boys". For such a small venue it had real impact in making you feel you were sharing the feelings and actions of the wonderful cast. Also the scenery was so well made, in fact the whole production was great, and we were sad to leave, as we were flying back to the U.K. the following day. Since then we have been saving like mad and hope to be flying back to Toronto next year for another couple of weeks. It'll be our 7th holiday (not in consecutive years) to Toronto (it feels like a 'home from home'). And I know when we've picked up all the "What's On?" brochures, one of the 1st things we'll do is see what's playing in the Distillery District. Just one thing would have been nice, to go for a light bite to eat in the District, after the play. Maybe there are eateries there now that don't close so early? We hope so.

Excellent venue and wonderful productions. From comedies like jitters to Canadian works like Billy Bishop goes to war , and Kim's convenience , this theatre offers great shows. Also video Cabaret shows here annually and their productions are a must see!

I really love this theatre. I find the quality of performances is superior to Mirvish. Talent is outstanding, costumes are excellent, sets are very creative and theatres aren't too big, so you get a more intimate experience, even from the cheap seats. AND the location couldn't be better, great choice of places to grab a pint after the show.

Fantastic and interesting plays. I purchased a subscription and liked all the productions. The intimate theatre hosts many well-known plays and new innovative productions by local artists. Great excuse to spend more time in the Distillery District.

Great performing arts centre nestled in Toronto's famous Distillery District! An intimate theatre with good view of the stage. Saw Kim's Convenience and A Street Car Named Desire here. Make sure to pop by nearby Soma Chocolatier - just down the street - for high quality small batch chocolate, gelato and coffee.
